Takenn late last year in pitch black conditions! I travelled to Thornton Reservoir, a short drive from where i live, late one night. I saw the sky was clear and the stars were easily visible, this was the last long exposure shot i took that night, just as the clouds rocked up, luckily they made the image that bit more interesting.
Thanks to all the kind comments, and invite/fave my photo made Explore on 20th September.
When the Day Met the Night-by Panic At The Disco
"When the moon fell in love with the sun
All was golden in the sky
All was golden when the day met the night
When the sun found the moon
She was drinking tea in a garden
Under the green umbrella trees
In the middle of summer........ "

My first attempt at a projector photoshoot. I have some more of these, I quite like how they came out. Feedback is always great :)

Celebrate the Autumnal Equinox
It has been a wonderful summer, but nights are becoming longer, the weather is cooling, and soon the leaves will be turning brilliant colors and birds will fly south on their annual migrations. The autumnal equinox is upon us. On this first day of fall, night and day are of equal length and the Sun crosses the celestial equator (an imaginary projection of Earths equator into the sky) on its apparent journey into the Southern Hemisphere. From now on, days are shorter than nights in the Northern Hemisphere.
This year's autumnal equinox occurs on September 22 at 2:19 p.m., Pacific Daylight Time, 22 September, 21.18 in the Northern hemisphere, when the Sun enters the zodiacal sign of Libra, the Balance (an appropriate symbol of balanced day and night).
Happy Celebrations!

This Picture of the Week shows a long exposure image of the BlackGEM telescopes, located at ESO’s La Silla Observatory in Chile. The whitish star trails in the sky are an effect due to the Earth’s rotation on its axis around the southern celestial pole, which gives the impression of the stars’ movement over the course of several hours. To the right hand side of the central telescope the Milky Way is visible, seen here as a particularly bright region, densely packed with streaks of starlight. As these streaks move in circles across the night sky, the viewer gets a sense of tumbling around inside a giant washing machine, as they peer out at the scene through the fisheye lens.
BlackGEM, which recently started operating, is an array of three 0.65-metre optical telescopes, which can point at different regions of the sky, searching for some of the most dramatic events in the Universe like merging neutron stars and black holes. As these events unfold they send out ripples in spacetime, known as gravitational waves, which can be picked up by observatories like LIGO and Virgo. BlackGEM can then pinpoint the light sources from the afterglow of these events, allowing for more detailed follow-up observations of these cataclysmic collisions.

An Apsara dancer performs in front of an ancient temple in Siem Reap. The term "Apsara" refers to celestial nymphs or female spirits in Hindu and Buddhist mythology. The dance is a national symbol of Cambodia and is characterized by its elegant and intricate hand movements and rich ornate costumes. Many temples in Siem Reap, including Angkor Wat, feature bas-reliefs and carvings of Apsara dancers. At the height of the Khmer Empire in the 12th century, it is said that Angkor Wat had some 3000 Apsara dancers to entertain and delight the King. The dance itself is beautiful to watch. It is performed at a pace similar to Tai Chi, but with ornate movements, gestures, and body/leg positions. When performed by more than once dancer, the synchronicity and symmetry is a visual feast.
