Is there anything at rest in the Cosmos? The Earth spins on its axis, revolves around the Sun, which in turn revolves around the Milky Way center and so on …The rotation of the Earth creates day and night and makes the Sun rise and set each day, and so do the stars at night. Stay out late for some hours and you can see the stars change their position through the course of the night. Point your camera to Polaris - where the Earth’s rotation axis is currently aiming at - and a long exposure (or many short ones combined) reveals the colorful star trails.

FOREGROUND: Stack of 8 images from the same sequence with Mean stack mode to reduce the noise. Composite image was done in Adobe Photoshop CC
Magic night on the black beach of Stokksnes in Iceland.
We have no chance and all our winter trip that was the overcast nights. Only that night near Vestrahorn we had half-hour of clear sky at night. Excited and happy we tray to catch that special moment.
took a trip out to Farmington and Shiprock yesterday. Great monsoon afternoon with storms and magnificant clouds all around.
Continuing my experiments with photographing star trails, I took reduced the ISO to 800 and increased the shutter speed to 30 secs in this series of shots that I took in a place with relatively dark skies. The result was quite surprising with much more colour in the star trails than my earlier effort (ISO 3200). The colour of the trail varies with the temperature of the star. The streak to the lower right of centre was a shooting star.

My favorite time of the year has come, Milky Way Season. Although December is not the best time of year for a Milky Way photo since the main core still lies below the horizon, you must admit that even the worst part of the Milky Way is better than any day at work, can I getta "What...What!!!!!!" Hehe.

Celestial Falls is the second step of the major falls of the White River, and was formerly considered to be part of White River Falls itself. The falls drop 41 feet over a uniform ledge, plunging into a large pool at the base of the formation, with White River Falls visible just 180 linear feet upstream. The falls feel oddly out of place in the gently undulating foothills on the east side of the Cascades near the town of Maupin. The White River originates on Mount Hood some 40 miles upstream, gathering lots of smaller tributaries as it rolls downhill towards its confluence with the Deschutes River. By the time it reaches the Tygh Valley its a fairly substantial river.

The Seeker explores the boundaries between the earthly and the celestial.
By stripping away physical detail into a stark silhouette, the subject becomes a universal symbol of aspiration. Captured mid-flight against a brilliant solar corona, the composition utilizes vast negative space to examine the solitary journey toward enlightenment, truth, and the overwhelming power of the natural world.
A singular silhouette cuts through the deep, celestial blue. It rises not just into the sky, but directly toward the blazing heart of the heavens. The sun dominates the frame like a cosmic eye. It casts a brilliant, ethereal ring of light that ripples outward into the atmosphere.
The bird glides with effortless grace, perfectly balanced at the edge of light and shadow. It evokes the timeless myth of Icarus eternally drawn to the sun's majestic, untamed power.
The frame relies on a strong two-element dynamic: the radiant sun on the left and the avian silhouette on the right. This creates a balanced visual weight, where the viewer's eye naturally cycles between the light source and the flyer.
The vast, deep blue sky acts as expansive negative space. It emphasizes themes of isolation, immense scale, and freedom.
The bird is positioned traveling right-to-left, heading directly toward the light. This narrative path gives the composition a sense of purposeful forward momentum.
The photographer chose to expose for the highlights (the sun), which intentionally underexposes the bird into a crisp silhouette. This strips away identifying details of the creature, turning it into a universal symbol of flight.
Shooting directly into the sun has created a massive, soft halo and lens artifacts. While purist landscape photography often avoids direct flare, here it functions as a painterly element that adds atmospheric texture and a dreamlike quality.
The image is heavily reliant on a cool, high-saturation blue palette. This contrasts sharply with the warm, white-hot center of the sun.
The sky features a beautiful transition from a pale, overexposed center to deep, vignetted indigo edges. The wispy clouds at the bottom break up the solid color, adding a necessary organic texture to the lower third of the image.
This image is a compelling high-contrast nature photograph that borders on fine-art abstraction.
"The Seeker" focuses entirely on the subject. It transforms the bird from a simple animal into a character on a deliberate, profound journey toward the light.
