First I was planning for the full moon to rise behind this gorgeous mountain but then I realized I had to wait few months for it to be in the right position so I went for this one instead. Let me know if you like it!

Looking West over Cuttagee Lake this evening. Venus, followed by Jupiter, Antares (α Scorpii), Saturn, Galactic Centre and Mars.

Mars is past the zenith.

Zodiacal Light too?

Taken with a full spectrum modified Pentax K5, but no lens filter in place for the exposure.

Alright here it is...my new favorite picture. This was taken at about 3am on Sunday morning as the galactic center of the Milky Way was rising to the east and the aurora was dancing to the north. It's a 180 degree stitch of 7 vertical captures from northwest to southeast. The light pollution at the very left is International Falls and on the far right is Ely. The aurora is a little over-exposed but I wanted 30 second exposures for each shot to maintain consistency and really bring out the stars and foreground. Overall, I love it and hope you all do as well!

as the sun faded the light took on a blue tinge.

im not sure what the blue and white containers are, or why they are tangled in the rigging of the Celestial Dawn, though i have to wonder what the two figures are contemplating.

I’d been tipped off a few months ago about The Celestial Dawn, a boat wreck off the Flyde coast. I assumed that it would have been salvaged by the time lock-down had eased enough for me to track it down and pay it a visit.....

The Celestial Barracuda is an exploration vessel that was created to explore the universe. Once it was done with that, it's technology had evolved to allow it interdimensional travel.

Now it is an interdimensional transport ship for the greater good. It is used to find new homes for civilizations who lost their home planets.

This year, I finally found the time to build a SHIP for SHIPtember. I am really excited to share it with the world. I had a lot of fun building this thing and populating it with small ships and mechs.

Crisp, cold, alpine air, with tons of stars above the ancient bristlecones, and good times.

Another portion of an Islamic Celestial Globe from approximately 1630 AD showing an illustration of a constellation.

A simple picture actually. It started out as a sunset.

Then it was bent in photoshop. Another image was copied and then inverted. The images were joined and in doing so an artifact of a light flare appeared from nowhere.

Celestial Point on Hurricane Ridge near Sitting Bear Mountain in the Linville Gorge. Looking down the gorge you can see the distinctive peaks on the left of Hawksbill, Table Rock, The Chimneys, and the flat plateau of Shortoff Mountain respectively.

A dazzling Northern Lights (Aurora borealis) show on the evening of October 10, 2024. Here we are looking nearly straight up at the zenith. At times the intensity increased to the point where many of these colors were visible to the unaided eye. Aurorae seldom get better than this!

A few hours of star trails at Seminole Canyon State Park in Southwest Texas along the Rio Grande.

The Shaman statue was based on ancient rock art found in a cliff overlook at the park. Between 4000-6000 years old and some of the oldest pictographs in the US!

Like a battle for dominance of the night sky, forces of northern lights, brilliant moon, and incoming clouds.

A lone tree out on the white brain rock of White Pocket in the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument with the Milky Way rising up behind.

If you look to the right of the tree you can see Jupiter lighting up a little bit of smoky haze at the horizon.

I took this with a recent Photo Workshop with David Swindler.

About two years ago, I took this view flic.kr/p/J9VCkt at Loadstone in northern New South Wales, a location I liked because it had a creek, and was reasonably quiet.

After wondering how I could actually show the train as more than just a streak of light, I set out on buying a bunch of flashes and a lot of experimenting.

I've had this repeat view in mind for well over a year, but being stubborn I doggedly waited for the chance to repeat it. It was only recently everything fell into place. So here is another interpretation of that shot from two years ago, with a whole lot of extra experience. I'm not sure now whether I'm done with this location...

This is a multiple exposure, one for the train, another for the trees, and many, many photos of the stars rotating above.
