and all of the sudden, within the silence of the forest, we lost our voice. no longer could we speak out what was on our mind, no longer could we let our thoughts become reality. all the wisdoms uttered still laid upon us like a velvet of serenity, and it arose to our heads these sentences, these expressions, these confessions and these admissions, of the kind to not be put into voice, that no word, no sentence could convey. so with the gentle touch, our souls spoke what could not be spoken, and the celestial sunlight enlightened our hearts and unfroze them to ignite the light of truth. how could a silence ever be so vibrant, so wonderfully full of emotion? I guess it's not up to us to figure that out as we are not here to merely think. no emotion is reality when it isn't felt. and to feel, that is our duty. i feel you.

Moonlight through cloud.

In going through some old film negatives, I was surprised to find this one, actually a bit nicer, I think, than a couple other similiar shots I posted from the same night.

I have stacks of old negatives which I've never digitized, stuff I essentially rejected in the past but I'll have to give them another, more careful look, just might be a few treasures in there somewhere ...

Active Aurora near Tok, Alaska, Kiev 19 SLR, 24mm lens, Fuji 800 film .probably a 20-25 sec. exposure @f2.8

... the camera I took this with, I used for years, under incredibly cold, harsh conditions, with nary a single problem ... so reliable ... think I'll dust it off and start using it again ....

-5 and 20mph winds made for a cold scene trying to photograph this morning. I lasted about 3 minutes!

I still from a scene from my video "Celestial Lights", from a slightly different angle, showing milky way and aurora on the horizon, among frosty wintry trees.

Really cold this night, but a magnificent experience, just like a fairytale!

Hope you like it,

Best,

Ole

Light painting fun under the milky way. I achieved this using the light from my iPhone and using and app called "ColorLight" to alternate the colours.

This is the interior view of a small greenhouse, I discovered in Brooklyn, New York. The incoming sunlight made the tainted glasswork shine like a lantern. I was lying on the ground looking up, and watching through a wide angle lens I experienced the greenhouse like being in a translucent cathedral. I particularly loved all the details: the coloured squares and rectangles, being mixed with plant elements and shadows. Architectural design by Tom Fruin.

It's just like seaside in 2,000m high.

I wanna dive into it!:D

Someone decided to paint all across His sky today! :)

.

I drove out to the back country area above Hanmer Springs on the South Island of New Zealand to capture this 360 degree seamless pano of the night sky.

There's quite a lot going on with this image - you have the Milky Way which can be seen arching over the landscape in the right of frame, and below that you can see a natural phenomena know as gravity waves. The glow in the centre of frame is from the lights of Christchurch 130km away, and to the left of that are the Magellanic Clouds, which are a duo of irregular dwarf galaxies visible only from the Southern Hemisphere. The faint triangular glow to the far left of frame is the Zodiacal Light, which is caused by sunlight scattered by space dust in the zodiacal cloud, and in this case, is seen just before morning twilight.

For the tech buffs out there, this image is a 218 megapixel image made up of a stitch of 28 individual images, which were shot on a Gigapan Epic Pro. The images were shot 4 rows vertically by 7 columns horizontally, each on a 24mm lens with an exposure of a 25 second shutter at f/2.8 with an ISO 6400. The whole pano took a total of 14 minutes to shoot with all the images.
