Found some interesting lichen on a boulder in one of the glacier bays. It reminds me of a scene you would see in space of different galaxies and nebulas ... and that's when I'm sober! Vatnajokull National Park, Iceland, April 2021

Sedona's Midgely Bridge and Mitten Ridge under the Milky Way. The landscape portion of this scene was taken during the blue hour, while the night sky was taken approximately two hours later (with the camera remaining on the tripod) and masked in via photoshop.

Our first night in Spitzkoppe in Namibia, one of the world's most under-populated countries. The nearest town to our campsite was 60kms away and the level of light pollution was zero. The details on the granite rocks are purely from starlight - it was a completely moonless, cloudless night.
Can't wait to get back!

On a recent Astrphotography shoot down at Ballydowane Cove, I was blessed enough to not only witness and capture the Milkyway itself but also the beginning of the new day's pre-dawn light and as a special added bonus, the moon rising.
This was my last shot of what was an epic time down within the Copper Coast Geo Park in County Waterford, Ireland.
8 individual exposures were captured ( ISO 12,800 | ƒ2.8 | 20 seconds) and were then stacked together using Starry Landscape Stacker and then finally processed within Adobe Lightroom.

Star trails in the Pilliga, north-western New South Wales, Australia. Sixty-eight fifteen sec exposures merged in Photoshop. I have not tried to edit out the plane or comet trails. The lighter areas are where there are high densities of stars in the Milky Way and where the Magellanic clouds are located.
The Pilliga is the largest inland forest in Australia. It is quite sparsely populated so star viewing is wonderful. Nearby is the world renowned Siding Spring astronomical observatory.
Taken at Pilliga Pottery, a working farm with a pottery studio and accommodation for tourists.

At the Celestial equator the stars are almost at the same distance from both celestial poles so they seem to travel in a straight line. The South Celestial pole is towards the top left of the photo. The North Celestial pole is below the horizon towards the bottom-right.
