This was another in my series of desperate catchup sketches. I am trying to get caught up on unfinished sketches so I can get going on new ones without feeling guilty.
This is just a different view and a different sketching style of the earlier watercolor sketch. I had fun playing with Steven Reddy's technique of using thin washes of India Ink to do the shading. I got this far and decided to stop with just a thin blue wash to represent the light autumn blue sky we had that day. This was with the Seattle Urban Sketchers.

Went upto Grassington again, got a bit bored of candid shots so decided to try and get a couple of posed group shots. This one has turned out quite well, might need a bit of work as there are some odd shadows and flares going on, it had just started to rain and I think I had a drop on my lens grrrr!

I had the privilege to have dessert with these two lovely people at Guppy's in Hacienda Heights. Andy is on vacation and is in LA. It was nice to meet up with these two silly characters and catch up. Fun times!
Picture is a bit out of focus... I get scared/embarrassed/feel bad when i use the jumbo flash in restaurants. :\

I've no idea what these sculptures in a square in Edinburgh are meant to represent but I saw this and thought "photo opportunity".
I do my best to ignore email (at least work-related) over the weekend. Monday mornings, I have to go through tons of system logs. It's exciting, let me tell you.
I surround myself with stuff in my workspace. Off to the left of the frame, there's a small army of penguins of all sorts of types that I collect and display, a Japanese sand garden, my SCCA monthly calendar. To the rght, pictures of my wife and dogs, and a gold-plated "executive" slinky.
A 3.5 hour catch with sketching friends over a cup of tea and a scone. Lovely sunny day (the forecast from early in the week of isolated showers was wrong!)
Had a sketching morning today...
Had breakfast with Alissa, Wendy and Annie this morning...food, sketching and non stop chatting!
So I am trying to catchup with my pictures. this is a shot of my friend Linde on a shoot we did with her and her friend Christa back in March I think... Or was that February? Anyhow, The shoot was a ton of fun and both were great models. probably one of the hardest times I have had chosing which shots to mess with and which ones to not.
Lighting: one umbrella set to my left with Vivitar 285 HV strobe set at full. Another light set way to the left to give light on the blue wall.

More family catchups, this time with Liz’s Uncle Donnie (June’s brother) and Aunty Frances as well as Collette and Tony Willis, Angela’s mother and brother. That night the whole family as well as Liz’s brother’s partners went out for dinner.

Yet again I'm finding myself playing catchup. The above image was taken at a recent air display by the Tiger Nine display team. I believe the aircraft date back to the '30s (I'm sure somebody will correct me soon) so almost make the 'antique' bracket, depending on which definition you want to go for. Obligatory heavy handed sepia procsessing added for good measure.
After many years (15 or so) Sarah and I met each other again IRL. We had found each other on Facebook and after a dream she had she suggested to meet up and have diner. And so we did, we had great food and awesome talks about the past and our present lives. Summarizing 15 years and more can make you reflect on your life and that always gets me melancholic and happy at the same time. I'm hoping to stay in touch as she is a great person to know.
Fun fact: she was my ever first photo model way back then.
