It was great to come upon this kestrel with a nice big catch. Guess I could have titled it, "I'll rip your face off"
A second visit to photograph the Kingfishers at the end of April. The day started overcast with very light rain. But the brightened up slightly.
At last I managed to catch a Kingfisher Diving. Unfortunately on this dive it was not successful.
Kingfishers are small unmistakable bright blue and orange birds of slow moving or still water. They fly rapidly, low over water, and hunt fish from riverside perches, occasionally hovering above the water's surface.
Only the male Kingfisher was seen throughout the day. But it was returning regularly to catch fish where it would dive and catch a fish for itself and then dive and catch a second fish before flying off.
A Bald Eagle snags a fish from the lake with the sun low in the sky, making for some interesting lighting.
Congrats to our locally nesting pair of eagles, Liberty and justice on hatching all 3 of their eggs.
Again, for those interested, here is the live cam and info with some stills of the chicks.
This yellow crowned night heron was photographed with it's catch along the boardwalk in downtown Stuart, Florida. Prints, and many other products, are available with this image on my website at www.tom-claud.pixels.com.
Four fishermen are about to unload two large containers filled with their fresh fish catch from their vessel unto a makeshift raft which will carry them to a nearby wholesale fish market at the town proper of Subic, Zambales, Philippines.
Meanwhile, a former construction worker tries to catch some fish from a raised concrete platform with the use of a nylon string with a hook and bait attached on its end.
Barred Owl with a catch on a cold winter morning. As I stood well back watching from a distance it was interesting how cautious the owl was constantly looking side to side and behind as it slowly consumed the meal.

This Snake neck bird had this good catch on the Nile in Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda. And I was able to follow him very well with my camera, which gave me some nice shots!
Last weekend I spent 2 days in a hide in the forest.
I was quit surprised when a Common Kingfisher lady came at the setting (twice).
First in the early morning for a shorter period and in the afternoon more than an hour.
She got a nice catch. Her left foot looked a bit strange, but for the rest she looked great and very active. Let's hope the foot won't bother her too much.
