While this may not be the most artistic shot I've ever taken it represents a pretty lucky catch for me. While a South Shore job works their yard in Burnham, IL a 1x1 unit coal train off of UP and bound for NIPSCO at Michigan City with a South Shore crew in the cab rolls by on the main. Catching the NIPSCO train under wire and at a distinctive South Shore location was a winner for me. Fortunately with the 'flying camera' I could adjust to both trains moving to catch a workable shot. No, that's not Jennifer Garner (I wish) but a fellow angler releasing a small grilse (a grilse being a one sea winter salmon weighing about 3 to 3 1/2 pounds) I caught on the Pinware River in Labrador. Since this one was just in from the ocean ( I fish mostly in the tidal pools) its colors were intense! The photo does not even come close to capturing the irridescent silvers, purples, blues, and greys!
As are most of them in the lower part of the river, this one was a magnificent fighter. The pleasures of fly fishing are many but the four main ones are...getting a fish to rise for the fly; actually hooking it...which,for me, is the ultimate pleasure; playing it...especially if it's a fighter; and the second best thing...releasing it. I like where the right hand is held in this photo but not that the head is out of water. The left hand, I hope you notice, is not pinching the tail of the fish... just supporting it. That is definitely a good thing.So, two out of three on the release style. This is my fish ... but, not me releasing it. It is an angler who was nearby.

Sometimes those moments of inspiration and excitement come at the most unexpected times. You should catch it when it comes and hold on to it for later.
The late-summer sunlight is brilliant and sometimes fleeting in Iceland. The rest of the day here on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula was some combination of rain, low flat clouds and mist … punctuated here and there by brilliant sunshine. Even here you see the foreground and distant background are shaded by clouds.
NECR train no. 606 catches some gorgeous evening sun as it approaches Brattleboro, VT over the causeway at the Vernon Street Wetland. If you look closely, someone can be seen fishing from the culvert beside the lead locomotive and the conductor has his head out the window observing. I wonder if I wasn't the only one to snag a great catch this evening...
Watched this cormorant fishing for 20 minutes and I observed he was very successful. A fisherman would be very impressed.

Taken for the Macro Mondays theme of My Favourite Novel. Thought I would use the book Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. HMM everyone!

I really want to thank my friends here @Flickr who very much liked and appreciated this Fishermen Series.
There are so many mails about the post processing of these shots. Well, yes I have been playing in colors and hues as all these shots originally are in golden/yellow/orange tones and to achieve something different I used my imagination to play in colors in PS to bring required variations in color/hues for aesthetic reasons. But no other element is added or modified in the composition as all these silhouettes and reflections are pure and un-edited.
Now for the post work in PS ... Some times it took me few minutes to finish the editing and sometimes it took me hours to complete the job as i wanted!!
All these shots are taken with Canon A640 point and shoot ... and these perspective are achieved after lowering down the camera to .... an inch above the sea water surface !
