A lucky catch for me, not the Kingfisher. He is very efficient so no luck needed! I was out taking a picture of a newly painted and hung birdhouse when this guy flew from the brushy side of the pond to a post on the dock. I took a couple of shots of him there and then turned my attention back to the birdhouse when I heard a splash and looked in time to see him coming up out of the water with a fish! He flew to a branch closer to me and while keeping his eye on me, proceeded to enjoy his fresh caught fishy breakfast! :)

I watched this Neotropic cormorant repeatedly dive and come back up with the same little fish. I don't know if it was some marinade process or just its idea of play time. Winds the night and day before had pushed lots of grassy debris into the lagoon at the South Padre Island Birding Center.

Not done a hand shot for a while and fancied a little leaf rotation too.
Beauty dish above, snoot on blue gel flash below. Tripod and lens swap for the 9 way rotation of the Japanese Maple leaf.
. . . This is it! My favorite memory from a recent trip to Rocky Mountain National Park! This Red Fox stole my heart by letting me watch him hunt for about 30 minutes, and gave me as a friend called it, my 'National Geographic moment"!!
