A bit of photography fun this morning! I caught a picture of Silly the Sheep's smile for the Smile on Saturday challenge! Happy Smile on Saturday everyone!

Sunrise on a SoCal pier back in October. I think the only thing more freeing than that surfer was me taking the shot of him riding this wave into shore as the sun was rising in the East.

The sun bathing between the palm trees and right into my line of sight made me feel as if it rose just for me.

There is not a day I don't dream of the ocean. I hope to live close to one someday. (And maybe take up surfing?)

Another attempt at the frozen baseball shot. I went a little more wide open on this one. Not sure I like the bokeh result to be honest. But I liked that I caught the ball in focus with pitcher right behind the ball (requires a bit of luck in getting a pitch thrown off target).

Ich kann über Wasser gehen :-)

This guy managed to catch a nice size fish. Interesting how they spear it with their talons.

The brick factory work is seasonal and the employment is contractual, utterly insecure and wage is piece-rated. Though women workers comprise about one-half of the total workforce in every factory, they hail from the families that survive by working as labourer in every conceivable sense; they are from lower caste and class.

Late evening summer sunshine catches the long meadow grass surrounding the tholtan ruins of Killabregga in Tholt-Y-Will Glen. I captured this image with a 3 stop ND filter to try and capture a bit of wind movement in the scene plus shot at quite a wide aperture to create a shallow depth of field. My objective was to try and capture the essence of summer up in the hills of the island. What the photo doesn't show you is the biblical swarms of midges and other nasty biting insects zeroing in on my face while taking this. Getting eaten alive in the hills, a quintessential summer experience! 😅

Fishing boat working around Brighton West Pier

This young Greater Crested Tern snagged a garfish, but before it could celebrate, it had to outmaneuver a flock of seagulls trying to steal the catch. Nature's version of 'catch me if you can' allowed me to capture the action.

"There's a place I go to

Where no one knows me

It's not lonely

It's a necessary thing

It's a place I made up

Find out what I'm made of

The nights are stayed up

Counting stars and fighting sleep" - Matt Simons - "Catch & Release"

An early morning scene from a fishing village nearby Kanyakumary, southern tip of Indian Mainland. Tamil Nadu.

When I asked these two fishermen if they were catching anything, they said it didn't matter, because they were throwing them all back in, and they were just enjoying their time on the lake.

I know this is pretty much the same thing as I did in this photo (http://www.flickr.com/photos/sarah_beck/2656925850/), but i thought that it would really capture some emotion? ahah. we were supposed to catch candid faces. Photography assignment for my photography class at the Georgia Herff Jones' Yearbook Expo.
