You can feel the forces of nature up at the cliffs of Old Man of Storr. The wind, fog, and rain, it is all changing every minute. Even some sunshine when you're lucky.
Bass Hole boardwalk, Yarmouth Port. A nice place to catch some peace and quiet. This particular day presented some incredible colors in the water from deep blue to aquamarine. Back in the day the boardwalk stretched farther out and had bathhouses . For anybody who has been to Mayflower Beach in Dennis, the old Grays Beach was at the end of the boardwalk to the left and rivaled Mayflower's beauty. That all came to an end around 1953 as a hurricane uprooted the original boardwalk and made a sand bar out of the beach.
NS 17K pauses at Lafayette to drop off some cars and donate the Catfish to a needy eastbound. The Valley Girl would continue westward under the cover of darkness by her lonesome .

It seems like ages since I've been able to drive down to Laguna to catch a sunrise. June gloom extended itself from lat July clear through the month of August this year, which brought wonderfully cool temperatures, but fog and low clouds for a month straight. Last Saturday, I checked the satellite just before heading off to bed and had a hunch that Laguna could have an actual sunrise on Sunday. So I set the alarm for 4:30 AM, and by 5 I was on the road.
Sunday mornings are turning out to be my favorite time to head down to Laguna. No one else is on the road, and I usually can make it down to the beach inside of 30 minutes from my house. I can also usually make it back in plenty of time to get cleaned up and off to the 11:00 service at church. When I arrived on this particular morning, it was just beginning to get light. As I arrived at the end of Laguna canyon, my heard sank as it looked like a wall of fog had moved in along the beach. But after parking my car, I could see that there was only a heavy mist hovering along portions of the coast. For the first 45 minutes of shooting, it really looked like the sunrise was going to wimp out. I could see red clouds far to the South, so I just assumed the sunrise wasn't going to happen over Laguna. After shooting a bit over Shaw's Cove, I moved back to the tidal area North of Fisherman's cove and noticed the first few clouds beginning to show some color. Then, at last, the sky completely lit up, and I was all over the beach at once looking for different angles. In this shot, I glanced down and saw that the tidal pools had caught quite a bit of the sunrise and spent the next few minutes maneuvering around the waves coming in.
In other news, Summer is officially over and I've started work again at the college, which means that my time has been extremely limited. I'll be trying to post more as well as catch up with my contacts as soon as I get a chance.

Ein Ahornblatt, vom Wind bewegt, wurde immer mal kurz vom Licht gestreift und weckte so meine Aufmerksamkeit.
Es mutet wie eine herbstliche Fotografie an, ist aber Anfang Mai aufgenommen bei einem Spaziergang im Hamburger Treppenviertel.
We hadn't seen pelicans at our favorite spot in Ruskin (Little Harbor) until March, when a flock decided to pay a visit! These three were playing catch, or maybe follow the leader.

Not far from the small village of St Hilary is a really great place. large ponds and a whole lot of colour. I caught the sun bursting through the trees in the late afternoon and it lit the ferns up nicely. A strogn wind was playing havoc with exposures of more than a few tenths of a second so this was shot at F/5.0 and tilted to pick out the sun and fern. I was really impressed by the starburst at that wide aperture. Another joy of the 45mm Ts-e.
The f/16.0 shots just looked a complete blur but in a bad way. Thanks for looking.
It looks like we will get similar colours on Dartmoor for our Autumn Colour workshop among the tors and rivers of that stunning landscape. I hope you can join us. Just £85pp for the day Saturday 3rd Nov.
