Sunset at Cenang beach in Langkawi, Malaysia

A French postcard produced by A. Richard, No. 564 of "La Grande Guerre 1914-15."

The caption reads "A pump for oil, found by our chasseurs in the ruins of a German trench on the slopes of 'Old Armand' (Alsace)."

Vieil Armand is another name for the Hartmannswillerkopf, a peak in the Vosges Mountains.

French and German alpine troops fought several times from January to March of 1915, the period in which this Kleif M.1912 was captured.

The top of the flamethrower has been painted a lighter color than the lower two-thirds, no doubt in an attempt to conceal the wearer if he accidentally exposed the device in a trench or shell hole.
