I joined Chris Dodds and some other great photographers at the Pond at Elephant Head to shoot some bats this past September. It's quite an experience. Despite technical difficulties that seemed to plague me, I still came away with some pictures I'm proud of. This bat was captured by setting your camera to take a picture every 10 seconds. A beam is set up across a small (read small "very" small") pond which triggers the flash as a bat crosses the beam. You end up with a lot of black images and some wonderful keepers. I'll post an example of the other set up which uses a flower the bats love and triggers for both camera and flash.

Capture taken on day 3 of previous NYC visit. The day started again early and I did use a taxi to get to Grand Central to take a few capture there. The plan afterwards was to move to Tudor bridge. Too bad, there was just construction works so I could not get on that bridge...so I went further to get to this place. Was a bit late for more blue in the sky, but now overall happy with this edit. It was a lovely fall day for our drive into the wilderness of Denali. Our 66 mile (round trip 132 miles/ 7 ½-8 hour trip) adventure to the Eielson Visitor’s Center had produced some great shots. However, our drive back to the entrance was going to give yet some more captures of the animals of Denali. As we rounded the curve to the Sable Ramp, we saw three bears to our left. Our Driver, Kat, positioned the shuttle so that all had a view of the animals grazing for berries. Suddenly a phone alarm sounded and Mom stood to get a better view. All passengers were delighted to see her stance. With the rhythm of a machine gun, one could hear the constant hum of the cameras as many hoped to capture this bear in the wonderful fall colors.

Lens: Tokina AT - X M100 AF PRO D(AF 100mm f / 2.8 Macro) with an FL-W filter (to add the magenta tones) and a Variable ND filter attached.

This is a record shot of the rarely seen opened wings of a female Clouded Yellow Butterfly (Colias croceus). They never seem to settle with their wings open so I was pleased to capture this shot in flight. Not the sharpest of images I know, but chuffed that I had accidentally managed to capture it.

Since I love to paint, I decided to honor one of my favorite flowers. Columbine flowers are also called Granny's Bonnet. Many years ago I planted a few columbine flowers in my garden. At the end of that season, I would collect the seeds, then scatter them all around in the Spring. Here's to easy-to-grow flowers, a gardener's friend!

This wet feather was sitting on a fence in the Lyde Garden that I was walking in. I liked the colour contrasts, the water drops, and the way that part of it was draped over the edge.
