Title: Canvas Makeover
Year: 2015
Medium: Makeup
Size: 12” x 16”
Description:
I covered this self-stretched canvas with an abstract image created entirely of nail polish and eye-shadow. In part, I was drawn to the textures I could create. It is also a piece about gender, creating assertive new meanings out of decorative materials designed to satisfy the male gaze.

This afternoon and evening I worked on the Princess Peach stencil again with the coolest girl in town.
We bought 2 canvasses, and started painting. Above you can see the first canvas.
We both are very pleased with the endresult. :-)
Oil on Canvas 20x24 inches
I'm hosting my first ever painting workshop in May at the Sunnyside Guest Farm. This little stream runs past the shed where we will be painting.

Just as a canvas is a blank medium to hold paint, so a camera is really a blank medium to record light. Light is everything, and the world around us can be rendered either ugly or beautiful by the quality of the light. Everything around us is the canvas that light paints. There are moments when that light paints things in a particularly beautiful way, and I just hope I am around in those moments to capture it.
