Everest Canvas Messenger bag with the Mountainsmith Kit Cube insert, holds my Canon 60d with 24-105mm lens attached, Canon 10-22mm lens, and Rokinon 8mm Fisheye, along with wallet, glasses, spare battery, spare flash cards, and miscellaneous assorted small bits.
Inspired by one of my favorite songs, "Stand Too Close," and created with one of my favorite photos of Justin Pierre of Motion City Soundtrack.
i've been wanting to make a heavier-duty companion to the sling totes for awhile, and i finally got around to it today--i made up a super-sturdy, super-large tote bag with traditional U-handle straps and a square bottom to make it large enough to tote lots-o books, laptops, and stuff. all the seams + handles are double-stitched and extra-reinforced, and the whole bag is lined with heavy-weight interfacing. this thing can hold pretty much my entire library of knitting/quilting books and still sits comfortably on my shoulder! success! i have 4 more of these totes waiting for handles, but i ran out of canvas during production, so more canvas is needed before i can stock the shop.

"Portrait of George" (Detail) by Kerry Wright, 1980, oils on canvas: The question is sometimes hypothetically posed, "In the event of a fire, what precious belongings would you flee the burning building with?" I have no hesitation in responding that I would choose to take this portrait of my dear friend, George, along with the portrait of my mother in the blue dress. They are my two most precious belongings in all the world, primarily because they represent the two most precious people in my life. George was 30 when I painted his portrait in 1980. He was a portrait painter's dream subject, with his broodingly dark good looks and startlingly attractive blue-grey eyes under a knotted brow. He is painted in a favourite red shirt of the time, resulting in a friend once christening the portrait "Velvet George", even though the shirt was of cotton, not velvet. George and I first met through a mutual friend at Long Reef in Sydney in February 1973, not long after he left the Royal Australian Navy. He has been an integral part of my life ever since. I can't imagine what my life would be like without George in it.
