Tribal Canoe Journeys of Pacific Northwest Native American Tribes, a significant cultural event that takes place once a year.
The Puyallup Tribe of Washington State was the host tribe for 2018 for all the Canoes sent by other tribes along the Pacific Northwest Coast. Tribes all along the coast traveled via paddling their traditional Ocean Canoes, beautiful, functional and ornate! These Canoe teams traveled from as far as Alaska, including far stretches of Vancouver Island, British Columbia and far stretches of Oregon Coast. Paddling for 4 to 6 six hours a day, some for over ten days, battling ocean current, heat and sheer physical exhaustion.
Each Canoe was fitted with a GPS Transponder and its latest position was updated in 30min intervals in the Website : paddletopuyallup.org/
The summit of Canoe Peak, seen on a trip to Canoe Peak and Mackenzie Peak. Unfortunately the summit was clouded in and offered no views.

Met a great group of hikers/ canoeists at a Grand Tetons lake and caught them canoeing across the mountains reflections. After giving them a ride back to there cars, which were no where near water, I found out they carried/dragged the canoes up the hiking trail/mountain to get to the water, which is ironic given the previously named shot.

Canoe's beers were adequate. The highend pub fare was nice.
The restrooms were a bit odd! Men's had light blue neon and the women's bright pink. Half the wall between the two was dominated by a sink trough that is actually shared between the two room! A mirror extends down into the trough enough to separate the two.
But as we discovered a penny bounced at the correct angle flys capably through to the other side. Funny, Melinda saw a penny drop from the sky and simply couldn't imagine where it had fallen from! ;)

Paddling shots from Taylor's Falls (Interstate State Park) to the take-out at William O'Brien State Park. A sunny but blustery day with the wind often against us (from the south).
