Paddling shots from Taylor's Falls (Interstate State Park) to the take-out at William O'Brien State Park. A sunny but blustery day with the wind often against us (from the south).
I was scheduled to have a photography workshop with Bryan Peterson this weekend. He is SO awesome. Not just his work and his creative eye, but his personality and teaching style! We had two hours with him and he was called away on a family emergency. :( I'm sorry for his situation and disappointed about the workshop but I'll go to another one. Meanwhile, here are a few photos from the few hours we spent with him.
This one was taken after he left. The rest of the class decided to finish out the day walking around town together taking photos.
Tribal Canoe Journeys of Pacific Northwest Native American Tribes, a significant cultural event that takes place once a year.
The Puyallup Tribe of Washington State was the host tribe for 2018 for all the Canoes sent by other tribes along the Pacific Northwest Coast. Tribes all along the coast traveled via paddling their traditional Ocean Canoes, beautiful, functional and ornate! These Canoe teams traveled from as far as Alaska, including far stretches of Vancouver Island, British Columbia and far stretches of Oregon Coast. Paddling for 4 to 6 six hours a day, some for over ten days, battling ocean current, heat and sheer physical exhaustion.
Each Canoe was fitted with a GPS Transponder and its latest position was updated in 30min intervals in the Website : paddletopuyallup.org/

On Libby Lake - A guy gave us his canoe to use for free! He had about six so we hoped he was renting them out, but it turns out he was just waiting for someone and let us use them anyway. AWESOME!
