"Calling Elvis" is a song written by Mark Knopfler and performed by Dire Straits. It first appeared on the final studio album by the band, On Every Street (1991). It was released as the first single from that album, peaking at number 21 in the United Kingdom…
The song is about an Elvis fan who believes Elvis Presley still to be alive, making references to many of his songs, including Heartbreak Hotel, Love Me Tender, Don't Be Cruel and Return to Sender, and the popular expression Elvis has left the building.

So, I took my parents to calling hours at my Aunt Alta's funeral this afternoon. I got ready in stages, and helped my Dad get dressed, got his water, his walker, some of his meds and with my Mom we raced to the car. It was only after driving for 10 minutes that I realized I had never finished the manicure that I had planned to complete in stages. So this is what it looked like when I wasn't keeping one hand fisted or both hands hidden during calling hours. Klassy. That's me!

I thought the Wandering Tattler would be a life bird but I had apparently seen one in San Diego in 1980. I certainly had no photo. This one is calling from intertidal rocks in late afternoon with yellow reflections. Cabrillo National Monument, San Diego, California, USA. 24 January 2018.
At first glance, in winter plumage, I had to ask myself if it was a Spotted Sandpiper, which are more common in this rocky habitat. However the tattler has darker throat and breast, and lacks the white reverse "c" in front of the wing and has no white in flight feathers. They both wag their tails.
