Project Overview
ITC Holdings is the nation’s largest independent
electricity transmission company. ITC has
transmission systems throughout the Midwest
and supply a peak load over 25,000 megawatts.
Geomagnetically-Induced Current (GIC) is a
phenomenon caused when solar winds interact
with the earth’s magnetosphere causing DC
currents to be created in AC transmission lines that
can damage transformers and other equipment.
Transformers and GIC mitigation are both
expensive. A GIC monitoring system can determine
what protection and mitigation is required for ITC’s
transmission system. The project is a continuation
from last year to further develop a system not only
to detect GIC but also communicate this data using
the existing ITC networks.

Project Overview
The team was charged with the design and
implementation of a side cargo access and human
entry point on a RAM 1500 truck bed. The forward
section of the truck bed has limited access for
many types of cargo. A forward access system
will provide improved usage of this area and allow
more efficient load and unload activities. The new
design allows ease of access to cargo stored inside
and near the front of the truck bed. It allows ease
of entry into and out of the truck bed. It meets
all functional objectives of a truck bed and door
systems such as durability, sag, set, closing efforts.
The design accommodates typical customer
accessories such as tonneau covers, bed caps, tie
downs and cargo dividers.

The Liberty engine was one of the great engineering feats of history. It was developed from first meeting of the engineers to delivery of a running prototype in 30 days, from June 3 to July 3, 1917. The engineers were Jesse Vincent of the Packard Motor Company and E. J. Hall of the Hall-Scott Motor Company; the original design drawings were completed in 5 days in the Willard Hotel in Washington DC.
And they did it without even the most basic 3D CAD modeling tools.
The engine displaced 1650 cubic inches and produced 400 horsepower at 1750 RPM. It has a 45 degree angle between banks, taking advantage of the fact that in a V-12 each bank is inherently balanced so that it will run equally smoothly at any V angle. The narrow V allowed a narrower fuselage and better streamlining than other multi-bank engines.
One of the remarkable things about these engines is the thinness of the cylinder walls: the white area in the section that looks like it would be the thickness of the wall is actually the void of the water jacket. The cylinder wall thickness of the Liberty engine was .125 inch, and the thickness of the outer water jacket was .047 inch. They could only get so much horsepower per cubic inch running below 2000 RPM, so they met the power-to-weight requirements by very light construction.

This is a CAD model that expands a house I'd built mostly with the 4954 Model Town House set, loosely modeled on our house. Version 2 is truer to the real thing, though it still sticks with 4954 design elements; it has nearly correct counts of windows and a slightly compressed scale (about 4 studs across and 6 front-to-back). Need to attack some rendering artifacts, especially in the rear view.

I found a nice octopus arm smartphone stand on Thingyverse. This was a good test print for higher quality. The result was very impressive. The printer was able to bridge the gap between the sections with very little quality degradation.

The images you see here were all used at some stage on one of my own 3D CAD models. I made them all myself of course, and you are welcome to take whatever you like. I am a very "messy" modeler myself, and I model in order to get renderings, not necessarily perfectly crafted models. My pictures reflect that as well, and some may need editing for your purposes first. If some haven't quite got the right colour for your purpose, you know the trick, I presume: Photoshop, "Replace Colour" function.

Using the computer-aided design program SolidWorks, Bajaj and her team designed the belt to fit several components inside of it, including a projector, several chip boards, and a fan to keep the projector cool, all while maintaining a sleek finish. The tapered angle of the belt’s sides and back was to maximize space in the front of the belt to hold all of the inner components, but to also give the visual effect of making the belt appear smaller.

Queria muito um de cada modelo de vidrinho, mas já é um bom começo, essa cor é linda e é exatamente a cor da casca do pepino (cucumber). A magia dessa cor mora nos brilhinhos azuis que só aparecem separados do tom verde da base sob o sol. Na sombra eles se misturam criando a cor maravilhosa que a gente vê.

Como no Brasil, fazia moda intima, tinha (tenho alguns) muitos livros e apostilhas de modelagem industrial.
Nelas, se apredem como fazer cada modelo.
Havia tanta coisa interessante de modelagem. Perdi e alguns foram roubados.
A antiga Fábrica de Plásticos Pepe fez uma edição limitada de 100 exemplares de cada modelo do mítico Volkswagen Carocha, mais conhecido como o carro do povo. Um tesouro para coleccionares e todos os que brincaram com modelos iguais na infância!

Last generation of design in Lego of my custom steam locomotive. After this, I moved the design to Immersive Railroading where the design changed over two different CAD models, the newest being made by me. This is the final generation where the engine has trailing and pilot trucks between the two engines.

CAD designed and fabricated starting from 20 gauge alloy 304 stainless steel sheet metal.
Techniques involved:
-Reproducible fabrication
-CAD modeling
-Precision layout and 2D sheet metal cutting
-Sheet metal cold forming
-GTAW fusion welding (TIG)
