Los vehículos permanecen aparcados en inmensos y custodiados hangares, listos para ser pilotados por el monarca o algún afortunado miembro de su séquito.
Hay de todo y para todos. Desde los mejores y más selectos deportivos y berlinas del planeta (hasta 3 y cuatro unidades de cada modelo que fabrica Rolls Royce) hasta preparaciones realizadas “ex profeso” por los carroceros más prestigiosos del sector.
Así podemos contemplar extravagancias tales como Ferraris convertidos en vehículos familiares de portón trasero, Bentleys con tracción a las cuatro ruedas y preparados para circular fuera del asfalto, Mercedes Benz de competición modificados para su uso por la calles. Prototipos únicos en el mundo, de valor incalculable, sólo aptos para el bolsillo de un sultán. Como ejemplo basta citar que posee el único Mercedes Benz CLK – GTR con volante a la derecha de todo el planeta. Esta modificación la hicieron los ingenieros alemanes a sabiendas que no merece la pena contrariar al que es ,a la sazón, el mejor de sus clientes.
No es extraordinario que en el transcurso de sus viajes se encapriche con algún automóvil; así ocurrió en la ciudad de Londres, donde quedó encantado con los curiosos taxis de la capital y se trajo consigo 15 unidades.
La Fórmula 1 es otra de sus pasiones. De hecho tiene todos los vehículos ganadores desde 1980.

Automated Recognition of Work Progress at a Construction Site – (Tokyo, Japan)

The traditional methods of detailing the progress of construction projects are subjective by nature and susceptible to human error. The Kano laboratory in Tokyo's Waseda University and OBAYASHI corporation have been working to overcome this problem by developing an objective method for monitoring construction progress. Three-dimensional laser scanning and photogrammetry have provided the technological tools to accomplish this goal successfully. The research team used ContextCapture to create 3D models using multiple extractions of point-cloud data from a time series of digital imagery. By comparing point-cloud data with a 3D CAD model generated with MicroStation, work progress is measured by identifying components installed during construction. The ability to determine work progress enables continuous evaluation of labor productivity and possible construction delays. A striking art installation of fabric woven in between the neoclassical columns of the portico has been installed by UCL Slade School of Fine Art student Nicolas Feldmeyer.
The installation is part of the school’s 2012 MA/MFA Degree Show, which is open to the public between 9 -10 June from 10am to 5pm and 11-14 June from 10am to 8pm.

Explaining the thought process behind the project, Nicolas said:
“Untitled (Woven Portico) is a project I have been working on for 14 months, since March 2011. From my first day at UCL I was interested in this elegant and empty Portico, finding it a dignified space full of potential, just waiting to be activated.
“After a lot of studies and sketches I found something that seemed to have been contained in the Portico for a long time and needed to be made visible. I knew the form, but couldn't say exactly where it comes from. It has to do with something very old and deeply human, with the archaic gesture of weaving, with a kind of architectural remembrance of past times, as if the Portico were remembering where it came from, when huts were made of wooden posts and woven branches.
I got a lot of encouragement from my tutors and fellow students at the Slade to try and "go as far as possible" with the project. I didn't think it would be possible to realise it at first.

“It has to do with the physical contrast of heaviness and lightness, of fragility and solidity - light white fabric and Portland Stone. There was also something playful and of classical, geometric purity at the same time that I found interesting.
“The first opportunity I had to present the project in public was the ‘Moreover’ exhibition, organised jointly by the Slade and UCL Art Museum. In the Museum's archive I was shown the original drawings of William Wilkins, the architect of UCL's main building. I could measure the plans and re-build a 3D CAD model to produce plans and photomontages of my project.
“I got a lot of encouragement from my tutors and fellow students at the Slade to try and "go as far as possible" with the project. I didn't think it would be possible to realise it at first. The artist Julia Vogl, who created an installation last year on the Portico, has been very helpful and generous in sharing her knowledge.
“The structure is made of 226m2 of PVC mesh, heavy-duty straps and ratchets. The structure is attached on itself, supported only by the horizontal tension, so as not to touch the grade-1 listed building. The project cost £6,600, entirely funded by the Swiss Cultural Fund in Britain, UCL Business and Camden Council. UCL Business bought 15 prints of the preparatory drawings to fund the project.
“The fabric is going to be recycled into bags by BITA-Pathways, a social enterprise for people with mental health problems. The bags will be designed by Yasar Spoerndli, an award winning fashion designer and produced in BITA-Pathways workshops.”

O curso é ideal para quem tem uma câmera caseira ou para quem tem uma camera reflex (que troca as lentes) mas nunca fez nenhum curso de fotografia. Inclui explicações sobre resolução, megapixels, composição e impressão.
Serão explicadas todas as funções automáticas da câmera e as situações onde usá-las. Os tipos de flash, balanço de cores, foco e desfoque. Tire todas as dúvidas sobre a sua máquina.
O curso acontecerá na ACIC de Criciúma, próximo à Jugasa, no dia 11 de dezembro.
O horário é das 14 às 19h.
Os alunos receberão certificado e um guia de bolso para fazer as melhores fotos em suas viagens de férias.
Observações:
- Mesmo o Curso Básico sendo voltado para câmeras caseiras todos recursos apresentados estão presentes nas câmeras profissionais e semi profissionais, então todos os tipo de máquinas digitais são bem vindos.
- Não é necessário possuir câmera para fazer o curso. Algumas câmeras estarão à disposição dos alunos para a parte prática, mas como em cada modelo a posição dos botões muda, recomendo que cada aluno traga a máquina que costuma utilizar.
- Os alunos deverão trazer caderno e caneta para fazer anotações

Project Overview
ITC Holdings is the nation’s largest independent
electricity transmission company. ITC has
transmission systems throughout the Midwest
and supply a peak load over 25,000 megawatts.
Geomagnetically-Induced Current (GIC) is a
phenomenon caused when solar winds interact
with the earth’s magnetosphere causing DC
currents to be created in AC transmission lines that
can damage transformers and other equipment.
Transformers and GIC mitigation are both
expensive. A GIC monitoring system can determine
what protection and mitigation is required for ITC’s
transmission system. The project is a continuation
from last year to further develop a system not only
to detect GIC but also communicate this data using
the existing ITC networks.

Project Overview
The team was charged with the design and
implementation of a side cargo access and human
entry point on a RAM 1500 truck bed. The forward
section of the truck bed has limited access for
many types of cargo. A forward access system
will provide improved usage of this area and allow
more efficient load and unload activities. The new
design allows ease of access to cargo stored inside
and near the front of the truck bed. It allows ease
of entry into and out of the truck bed. It meets
all functional objectives of a truck bed and door
systems such as durability, sag, set, closing efforts.
The design accommodates typical customer
accessories such as tonneau covers, bed caps, tie
downs and cargo dividers.

A CAD model of the assistive walker and improvements designed by Abdallah J. Chammas '07 Th'08 M.E.M. candidate and Ramya Selvaraj M.E.M. candidate. Improvements include better safety, aesthetics, noise reduction, and practicality for transportation.
The Liberty engine was one of the great engineering feats of history. It was developed from first meeting of the engineers to delivery of a running prototype in 30 days, from June 3 to July 3, 1917. The engineers were Jesse Vincent of the Packard Motor Company and E. J. Hall of the Hall-Scott Motor Company; the original design drawings were completed in 5 days in the Willard Hotel in Washington DC.
And they did it without even the most basic 3D CAD modeling tools.
The engine displaced 1650 cubic inches and produced 400 horsepower at 1750 RPM. It has a 45 degree angle between banks, taking advantage of the fact that in a V-12 each bank is inherently balanced so that it will run equally smoothly at any V angle. The narrow V allowed a narrower fuselage and better streamlining than other multi-bank engines.
One of the remarkable things about these engines is the thinness of the cylinder walls: the white area in the section that looks like it would be the thickness of the wall is actually the void of the water jacket. The cylinder wall thickness of the Liberty engine was .125 inch, and the thickness of the outer water jacket was .047 inch. They could only get so much horsepower per cubic inch running below 2000 RPM, so they met the power-to-weight requirements by very light construction.

This is a CAD model that expands a house I'd built mostly with the 4954 Model Town House set, loosely modeled on our house. Version 2 is truer to the real thing, though it still sticks with 4954 design elements; it has nearly correct counts of windows and a slightly compressed scale (about 4 studs across and 6 front-to-back). Need to attack some rendering artifacts, especially in the rear view.

I found a nice octopus arm smartphone stand on Thingyverse. This was a good test print for higher quality. The result was very impressive. The printer was able to bridge the gap between the sections with very little quality degradation.

The images you see here were all used at some stage on one of my own 3D CAD models. I made them all myself of course, and you are welcome to take whatever you like. I am a very "messy" modeler myself, and I model in order to get renderings, not necessarily perfectly crafted models. My pictures reflect that as well, and some may need editing for your purposes first. If some haven't quite got the right colour for your purpose, you know the trick, I presume: Photoshop, "Replace Colour" function.

Um dos meus sonhos de consumo realizados, graças a uma dica da Eve do TSE: um SKIN FOOD!! Foi minha primeira compra no Ebay. Queria muito um de cada modelo de vidrinho, mas já é um bom começo, essa cor é linda e é exatamente a cor da casca do pepino (cucumber). A magia dessa cor mora nos brilhinhos azuis que só aparecem separados do tom verde da base sob o sol. Na sombra eles se misturam criando a cor maravilhosa que a gente vê.

Last generation of design in Lego of my custom steam locomotive. After this, I moved the design to Immersive Railroading where the design changed over two different CAD models, the newest being made by me. This is the final generation where the engine has trailing and pilot trucks between the two engines.
