A bumblebee is any of over 250 species in the genus Bombus, part of Apidae, one of the bee families. This genus is the only extant group in the tribe Bombini, though a few extinct related genera are known from fossils. Wikipedia
Most people are familiar with the most common name of these perennial flowers: dandelion, while Taraxacum officinale is the Latin one. What you may not know, however, is that dandelions are in the daisy family, Asteraceae, along with chamomile, chicory and globe artichokes.

Catching up some photos from Spring....this Bumblebee was searching out pollen on my Wisteria vine

Bombus impatiens, the common eastern bumble bee, is the most commonly encountered bumblebee across much of eastern North America. They can be found in the Eastern temperate forest region of the eastern United States, southern Canada, and the eastern Great Plains.
