i gave them a bit of cat nip, which had Banjo lazing about in a new way and bug rolling around fighting his own tail...

Will identify later.

This little bug's green color caught my eye.

The following three pictures are great to see with the diashow.

The bug is a real model!

I'm very sorry for the less sharpness on this pictures but I think they are funny to see anyway!

Found a sweat bee (Lasioglossum sp.) feeding on a lace hydrangea flower head. Did my normal trick of holding the flower underneath with my left hand to stabilise it and rest the camera lens on. The bee promptly stepped down onto my finger and started having a clean. When it had finished, it waved goodbye and trotted over to the flower and started feeding again

I was chatting with a friend when one of the box elder bugs decided to get in on the discussion

Small bug in our hotel room (you can't really avoid the bugs in Costa Rica - even in the luxury accommodation).

When I photographed this bug on a Holly bush leaf in the garden, I knew it didn't look like the invasive Asian Lady Beetle. I assumed (hopefully) that it was a good bug. As it turns out, that is not the case.

This appears to be a Mexican bean beetle. I included a paragraph from Wikipedia and a link below to the page.

"The Mexican bean beetle, Epilachna varivestis, is a species of lady beetle which is a notorious agricultural pest. It is one of the few North American lady beetles that feed on plants rather than other insects. It is found throughout Mexico and the eastern United States, and is abundant in the wetter and more heavily irrigated areas west of the Rocky Mountains. It does not tolerate extremely dry areas."

This bug is based -- loosely -- on a design found in the book "Twirled Paper", which my sister bought my nephew awhile back. He was trying his hand at it last month, and I was playing with scraps at the same time and came up with this strange creature! LOL I ignored the colors and strip lengths from the book completely -- the legs should be about half this length, the eyes are all out of proportion, and the coils on the wings are way farther out from the body than they should be. Still cute, I think! Twirled on 2/16/2008.

My mother's new kitten, which she has been telling me since she got it that it would have to go. Hopefully, she'll just keep saying that for the next 18 years.

Bug Lite Channel marker in Plymouth , MA

Found this crawling on the screen door this afternoon.

I found this bug in my yard and took it's picture before I put it back in the dirt. I didn't squish it, even though I think it's a queen ant, because I figure if they're outside it's not really fair to squish them since that's where ants are supposed to be.

I rate this in the top five of bug splats to hit my jeep.

Teeny tiny bugs on a flower...
