Built in 1902, this Beaux Arts-style buff brick building was originally home to Our Lady of Providence Academy, a female Catholic secondary school, and was designed by prolific Cincinnati architect Samuel Hannaford. The building features extensive classically-inspired details, a mansard roof, tower over the front entrance, and extensive grounds. The school operated until 1983, when it was combined with Newport Central Catholic High School. The building was adaptively reused as an extended stay hotel, known as the Hannaford Suites, in 1985, before being converted into a condominium some time later.

Posada Amazonas [215m], Madre de Dios, Peru
A new one for me, heavily cropped because this little fellow was between 30 and 40 metres away and would not come closer. What was disturbing was to see the litter, empty beer cans etc that have been discarded in their habitat. I could have moved closer but did not want to disturb them as a nest was nearby.

The Buff-throated Saltator is a feeder bird around Rancho Naturalista. One tends not to see a lot of them. I saw three species of saltators in Costa Rica, but the Buff-throated was the only one who came to the feeders. They are in the same family with the tanagers.
