This beautiful creature is a Buff-tailed Coronet. They were fairly common in mountains of Colombia. When they flew close to me I could hear them communicating with with their tiny voice—no kidding. It wasn’t Spanish.

The buff-necked ibis (theristicus caudatus), also known as the white-throated ibis, is a fairly large ibis found widely in open habitats of eastern and northern South America.
Its diet consists mainly of insects, spiders, frogs, reptiles, snails, invertebrates and small mammals found in soft soils. The female usually lays two to four eggs in a platform nest, made from twigs and branches, in a tree.
The Pantanal is a tropical wetland and the world's largest wetland of any kind. The Pantanal ecosystem is also thought to be home to 1000 bird species, 400 fish species, 300 mammalian species, 480 reptile species and over 9000 different subspecies of invertebrates.

Buff-winged StarfrontletBuff-winged Starfrontlets are appropriately named and have a conspicuous buff-colored patch on their wings. These hummingbirds are rather territorial and often pursue other hummingbirds in high chases, or guard flowers from others from a nearby perch. Buff-winged Starfrontlets inhabit dense cloud forests, elfin forests, and nearby shrubby areas. They are most often seen foraging low around forest borders where they primarily feed on nectar by hovering or briefly clinging to flowers.

is a typical bird of the southern africa mountains...here a territorial male found during a mountain walk.

Buff-tailed Coronets inhabit humid and wet montane forests, shrubby forest borders, and dwarf forests. They are rather defensive around mid and upper level flowers in the forest, and sometimes congregate with other hummingbirds at trees in the canopy interior. They hold on to flowers when feeding and hold their wings up in a V while doing so.

The queen of the Buff-tailed bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) was basking in the sun on a moss-covered beech tree trunk but didn’t fly away. This species of bumblebees flies early in the season and is known to fly in January-February months. Lansdown, Bath, BANES, England, U.K.

This bird also nests on the Canadian Arctic Islands not far from the North Pole before migrating to the southern ends of Argentina. In August, a few of them will drop down on Michigan where birders eagerly seek them out. I found this bird and another near Muskegon, Michigan.
According to e-bird: Medium-sized hummingbird, mostly dark green with obvious buffy underwing and mostly buffy tail. Fairly short, straight bill. Sexes similar. Found in cloud forest from Venezuela to Ecuador, mostly from 1,500–2,400 m. Usually forages in middle to upper levels of trees. Visits feeders, where it aggressively defends its territory against other hummingbirds.
