I saw this little kid playing cricket on the Besant Nagar beach. He was trying to hit the ball umpteenth time but the ball always missed(!) his bat.....lol. It was fun to watch him. He was so cute and very serious in batting :-))

Just for a second he was distracted by my camera.

This is the bud of the flower pot i got today from lalbagh.

Description:

Stokes' aster is an herbaceous perennial with 6-8 in (15-20 cm) evergreen petiolate (stalked) basal leaves. In late spring it sprouts several erect stems which have smaller, clasping leaves and stand about 1-2 ft (0.3-0.6 m) tall, each bearing 1-4 shaggy cornflower-like flowerheads 3-4 in (7.6-10 cm) across. The ray florets are fringed and blue, lavender, pink or white, in two concentric rows, and the disc florets are darker shades of the same colors. Flowering goes on for several weeks.

There are many cultivars available: 'Blue Danube' has large. 4 in (10 cm), lavender flowerheads; 'Blue Moon' has deep blue flowerheads; 'Bluestone' is small, to 10 in (25 cm) high; 'Wyoming' has the darkest blue flowerheads of all; 'Rosea' has rosy-pink flowerheads; 'Alba' has white flowerheads; 'Silver Moon' has larger, silvery-white flowerheads; 'Omega Skyrocket' is vigorous, 3-4 ft (0.9-1.2 m) tall and has long-stemmed white to pale blue flowerheads; 'Mary Gregory' is really different: it has yellow flowerheads!

The Goldfinches are getting their bright yellow coloring back and the trees are budding. Happy Spring! Have a great week!

The lantana in our garden has really been enjoying the hot, humid weather. There are still a bunch of buds coming out. It isn't attracting too many butterflies though. Only a few swallowtails. Have a colorful Tuesday!

Clover sprouts from the forest floor at Pinery Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada.

Pinery Provincial Park was initially reforested with red and white pine trees giving the park its name. However, the area is not naturally a pine forest; the natural ecology is a very rare oak savanna. Only later was the true value of the natural ecology recognized, and the health of the oak savanna is now promoted.

still life - odt

so I finally made it to the library to use the computers to edit some photos to post this week! After 2 weeks I was going thru serious withdrawals! Unfortunately I'm kinda rushed so the editing is not where i want it to be!

It kinda bothers me that I have found any style yet in my photography. I still haven't worked out how to get a nice vintage feel to a photo without the use of actions. If anyone could give me pointers there I would be so happy & appreciative! I have access to pse 8 at the library and that is currently the only program I'm using - but I can't download. At least it will force me to start to gain some control over it!

All art is but imitation of nature.-- Seneca (Letters from a Stoic - Letter LXV: On the First Cause)

The universe itself is God and the universal outpouring of its soul. --Chrysippus (Quoted by Cicero in De Natura Deorum)

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness

Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun

Conspiring with him how to load and bless

With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;

To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,

And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;

To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells

With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,

And still more, later flowers for the bees,

Until they think warm days will never cease,

For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells. --To Autumn. by John Keats

I love flowers that are just in the process of blooming.

The leaves on this shrub look more like flowers, especially in contrast to the old seed pods that are still on this lovely ornamental shrub.
