So this week I decided to go back into the garden whilst I still had the chance. Now that it's September and slowly turning into autumn a lot of the plants are starting to fade - this is all but a few of course!

I came across this budding Osteospermum which I thought made a great frame. I decided to try going head-on with this shot with the idea in mind that there would be even space around the central focus alongside a beautiful amount of background blur.

Enjoy! Thanks for viewing. All favourites, views and comments are appreciated.

Macro shot of a budding flower at HSR Layout Park, Bangalore, Karnataka, India

Taken in springtime

Photos from a Sunday morning walk. Now that we have nice spring weather, I got some spring type photos.

Photographed in my flower garden. I was hoping for a rain shower so that I could get a few shots of flowers with rain drops. Yesterday afternoon it rained so I grabed my camera and headed outdoors to take this photo. More rain last night and it is raining now so I might get a few more photos today. IMG_9342

This is flowering again, so I think my earlier ID was incorrect, previously thought it flowered infrequently.

Help appreciated...

These little buds breaking out of their capsule looked dramatic against the background of a dark window on the UCLA campus during my April visit. Thanks to Lucy for identifying it as a Lily of the Nile (Agapanthus)!

A dreamy look at a bud from a plant that I know that these leaves get to be up to 4 to 5 feet across. I don't know the name but it's a big plant.

Shot at home, just experimenting with a black background.

We have two camelias in our sun room that are flowering beautifully, I might post some photos that I took a week or so later but here is a flower opening.

A young photographer composes a picture in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

One day in June, I decided to load up a couple of old cameras with some 135 format, black and white, film. One was a Nikon FTn with a 35 mm lens that I gave to me daughters. They are seven and nine years old, and were interested in learning some photography. I loaded a Spotmatic 1 for myself. I planned to shoot the whole roll with a 300 mm lens, but some of the shots were taken with other lenses. Here is a photo of my 7 year old pretending to compose a photo while I take one of her.

Check out an album containing more of my photos shot in 2018.

"Budding Bloodroot" by Patti Deters. A soft and ethereal depiction of a white Bloodroot ('Sanquinaria canadensis' also known as Bloodwort, Indian Paint, Tetterwort, Sankebite, Red Root, or Sweet Slumber) flower emerges into a misty, dream-like atmosphere. Several textures and overlays have been worked into the background - the light hues and delicate details evoke a sense of tranquility and elegance. When picked, the stems ooze a blood red-colored substance that gives this spring flower its common name. Looks similar to an Indian Paintbrush, but I don't think it is. The brilliant red, hairy little bud is busting to pop out.

Spring is rapidly turning into summer , and these sun lit leaves are fully filled out today...so I'm leaving the Florida birds for awhile and showing some spring....

Thank you for your visit....

Pat...xo....

Lovely to see the different stages.

These are just so elegant eh? Duo-toned, purple and white.

Originating in the West Indies, Mexico, and Central and South America, the flower is known botanically as Eustoma grandiflorum.

The common name comes from the Greek words lysis, meaning 'dissolution' and anthos, meaning 'flower'.

Colours include white, light and dark pink, lavender and deep purple, and now lately I have discovered them white with frills...

They are great cut-flowers, with a vase life of two weeks.

Double and single-flower varieties exist.

With love to you and thank you for ALL your likes and comments, M, (* _ *)

- www.kevin-palmer.com - It was strange seeing the aspen trees budding on this warm spring day. A big weather change was on the way with snow the next week.
