I made this dress for little Isabel (size 18-24 months) using the Oliver and S Bubble Dress Pattern. I added little inset pockets to the side front of the dress, this was an experiment and they are a bit low, note for next time. The outer fabric is a feedsack print I bought from a quilt shop a while ago and I don't know it's name, I think the lining is an Amy Butler solid. As always I had a ton of trouble with the button holes (I sewed them 10 times!) This dress was a wearable test for the pockets, I will make another for Isabel Rose soon in blue.
Sewing elastic directly to the seam allowance. I've never used this technique before, but I like it. I'm not a big fan of gathering, so this kills two birds with one stone.
And.... relax! Both girls have new dresses for the family party tomorrow.
And more importantly I can turn my machine off and have a glass of wine.
This is a size 2T for the little one.
This is Audrey Cate in Oct. 2010 in the Oliver + S Bubble Dress that I made for her to wear in our family pictures. The pattern is out of print in the larger size now but you can still find it in the baby size here: www.oliverands.com/patterns/dresses/patterns1.phtml
I LOVE Oliver+S! Liesl's patterns are so wonderful and I learn so much every time I make one. I also love this fabric. It is Hilco light wale corduroy from Europe and it is amazing! I snagged a yard of it from someone's destash and would love to have more. It is so soft and the colors are so perfect!
Corrie Owens took these gorgeous pictures: www.corrieowensphotography.com She is also the best ever! :) This image is copyrighted by her so please do not re-use without permission.

I attended to Momolita sewing class on making a Bubble dress. It is my second class I attended to with her.
My first attempt at an Oliver & S pattern after being won over by all the beautiful pictures that I've seen of the finished articles. Finished just as the weather has decided to turn from Summer to Autumn, guess I may just have to sweet talk Grandma into making a matching cardigan:)
I made this cute Oliver+S Bubble dress for little Bella. I used the bird print in natural from Michelle Engel Bensko's Dogwood line for the outside of the dress and Kona Medium Pink for the lining. I love making this dress, it has cute sleeves, fun peekaboo back, a gentle bubble and the scallops on the sides are such a pretty detail. I used grey buttons on the back and sewed in a "Handmade by" tag to the inside front of the dress.
Getting ready for spring! This is the second dress I've made from the bubble dress pattern, and the first time I did the scallops on the side. It wasn't hard to cut and sew the scallops, but it was kind of a pain to iron the curves flat. I love this dress pattern using the voile fabric. It's really lightweight and airy and flows well with bubble and movement. It's also soft and luxurious. It's lined with unbleached muslin.
'm going to make another dress from this pattern next with no scallops, and no bubble. This dress in size 2 fits my little girl (who is 22 months) very well, and I love the bodice.
