Today I made a change.
Today I took charge.
Today I was done being that wimpy pushover I became.
I wanted a punching bag because I felt tough and strong, because I wanted to feel in control and take out my anger on something other than a person, other than my friends.
Now I can barely speak my mind. I don't stand up for myself. I've lost all confidence and faith, all self esteem that I had.
I want it back.
I'm taking charge.
I'm not that shy girl in the dress. I'm willing to fight to win myself back.

My Oliver + S Bubble dress, view B, made with Sarah Jane's Children at Play line. The only change I made was five buttons instead of three, and the buttons are off an old J. Crew sweater. Blogged at: esposetta.blogspot.com/2012/04/project-11-oliver-s-bubble....
*When I brought this fabric home Victor looked up from the football game and remarked "It looks like the cover of a Beatles album" more details & photos here: www.loveauntmaggie.com/behindtheseams/beatles
Framed fabric swatches on display for Glinda's 'bubble dress' from Wicked the Musical - Auckland, NZ - 2013
I made this dress for little Isabel (size 18-24 months) using the Oliver and S Bubble Dress Pattern. I added little inset pockets to the side front of the dress, this was an experiment and they are a bit low, note for next time. The outer fabric is a feedsack print I bought from a quilt shop a while ago and I don't know it's name, I think the lining is an Amy Butler solid. As always I had a ton of trouble with the button holes (I sewed them 10 times!) This dress was a wearable test for the pockets, I will make another for Isabel Rose soon in blue.
A Christmas gift for my youngest niece.

This is Lucy(1 almost 2) in her new bubble dress made by me with the Oliver +S pattern. I just love this pattern, the length, the sleeve, the buttons down the back... I made it without the scallop on the sides (did I mention that this is an entirely lined dress!?). I used a bed sheet for the outside and Thistle Kona cotton on the inside.
Little Ava got her first handmade dress made from the Oliver and S Bubble Dress pattern made with fabric from some of my favorite sheets :)
