Steinheil Cassar S 2.8 50mm, 12 blades, M42 mount, stop 4.0 on Sony A7RII)

Steinheil Cassar, or what makes a bubble bokeh?

The so called "bubble bokeh" is a getting more and more common feature of especially vintage lenses. Leaders are so called triplets, that means lenses consisting of three single lenses in the interior like this Steinheil or the Meyer Optics Görlitz Tripoplan or Domiplan. The special bokeh arises through a chromatic overcorrection and mainly at the outer area of the lenses. For this reason, it is more pronounced when the lens is used wide open. The Munich company Steinheil once in the fifties and sixties was at eyelevel with companies like Zeiss or Leica and produced lenses for some full format cameras like Braun (Paxette etc.). I became aware of it when I bought a vintage binocular from this make and was astonished about the clear, sharp and 3 dimensional view through it. The Cassar has a M42 mount, 12 infinitely variable blades, the sharpness is good wide open but is getting better till stop 5.6 whereas the bubble bokeh effect is diminishing it is still pronounced at stop 4.0.

The snowdrops are everywhere this year...so delicate and cheery ;-)) Shot once again with the Helios 44M.

Hello there flickr-friends,

two days ago I was outside to test my newest acquisition: The a few years ago reissued Meyer Optics Trioplan 100/2.8. As an art lens with chance for bubble bokeh it shall be my ticket to deeper layers of the blurry universe. Therefore it principally serves the same purpose as my Lensbaby Velvet 56, taking a different route though. Luckily for me as a customer the manufacturing comapny crashed (again) and the wholesale buyer sells these lenses now for more reasonable prices. Hence it was time for me to go for it!

So I headed out into nature, to try the first baby steps. It took a while, but then a fragile voice reached my ears: "You there, is this a Trioplan? A bokeh-ticket?"

"Yeees...?" I replied hesitantly.

"Hurry then, I've got hardly any time left. Pluck me and fulfill the dream of my short life, to once touch real bokeh!"

What can I say? Of course I fulfilled the last dandelion seed's wish and rubbed him against the bokeh, letting his little hairs fly. In his excitement he didn't even notice that I shamelessly snapped pictures, until he eventually got carried away by a gust of wind.

Hallo flickr-Freunde,

Was soll ich sagen?

Last sunday my hubby and I drove into the country to get some fresh air since I had been working from home and hence staying inside (as requested) for the most part of that week (now it's already end of week 2 of home office and self distancing).

Spring blossoms blown in the wind and with manual focus - so not completely sharp ... but I like the atmosphere !

Taken with my 'old' analogue Nikkor 50mm AI f/1.8 - wide open:

I finally got an adapter for my Pentax body! So I've got even one more Nifty Fifty, lol ... and was very surprised about the 'cheerful' bokeh character of this one : ))

As always these days: Please stay safe and healthy !!

Bitte bleibt gesund !

This bauble is a present that the teachers of my son (almost 7yo) gave to him some days ago! He was very happy and he put it on the Christmas tree as soon as he returned at home.

Me and my wife were very happy too! It is a wonderful present!!!

Therefore I choose to share this bauble for the theme of this week. I used my Diaplan (a lens that I love more and more).

I hope that you will like the result, my friends!

Have a great Friday and a Merry Christmas!!! ;-)

...but it looks like no one remembered to turn out the lights.

Smile on Saturday: "Multicolour Bubble Bokeh" theme

HSoS and Happy New Year, everyone! Let's hope for a better year in 2022.

Yesterday I found an old lens I once bought on the internet (Ebay I think), a Pentacon 50mm 1.8. I used it a few times but never serious. Yesterday I placed it in my bag and gave it a chance. So, this is the result, not the sharpest shot ever but I like the bubble bokeh.

for happy smile 😚 on Saturday #MULTICOLOUR BUBBLE BOKEH

The woodlands are still a sea of Bluebells and Wood Anemones...but it won't be long until they leave us for another year. The scent is intoxicating in the Spring sunshine ❤️

Fluid Sculpture: colored waterdrops colliding at high speed to form unique shapes. I really enjoyed creating this type of water drop art from a small glass of diluted acrylic paint. Most notably are the height of the Worthington jet, the top lighting and the soft bubble bokeh lights in the backdrop. This image was created in one exposure. However, it did take many attempts to create the collision seen in this image.

Maybe the squirrels decided to leave this one lone sweet chestnut for another day....at least I think that's what it is!

This theme was very difficult!!! I am not an expert of this technique and I made a lot of tentatives before obtaining something acceptable. I used a long time exposure (by also employing an ND filter) and I stayed still for the first 1/2 - 2/3 of the time. I only moved the camera in the final part.

The final result reminded me a travel across dimensions (the distorted bubbles, the electricity...). But I wasn't able to anticipate the result. In any case, I enjoyed the whole process ("try and error" steps included) so much!!! :-)

Stay safe, dear friends, and have a nice and Happy CrAzY Tuesday!!! ;-)

False Solomon's seal (Maianthemum racemosum ) is a widely distributed perennial plant that is native to North America and grows in woodland habitats. The fruits (berries) are green with dark red-purple spots when young, turning red when mature. The young shoots are considered to be edible.

The days are shortening and darkening but the colours are intensifying...I think this is natures way of compensating us ;-)) Another shot using the Helios 44M

I always feel weird when I have to name a flower. I do not distinguish many of them to start with, and then, I never border to learn their names in English or French.

I think that softness , a hint of halo and sharp-edged bokeh balls of MOG Trioplan 100mm wide open, work quite well in this image.

HMM to all participants 💙💙💙

Dear friends, I'm going on with my experiments in using the tilt-shift adapter. This time, I tilted the focal plane to follow the point of the first pencil.

I hope that you will like the result. Have a nice evening! 🙋‍♂️

Found this japan made gem - Brilliant-Super 135mm f3.5 manual focus, great bokeh and condition, has a nice feel to it. Had no clue when it was made, came with a m42 adaptor hooked it to my sony a7, and start shooting.

Cool vibes ...on a blue note

...for Sliders Sunday

Meyer-Optik Görlitz Trioplan 2.8/100

A spin-off from (and in contrast to) my contribution to last week's Macro Mondays theme "Four" (11-07-2022).

Manipulations include a little HDR treatment, a big slide on the white balance to create the blue tones, a touch-up on red and green (hue, saturation, brightness), and a pull on the gradation curve to plunge the violin's bridge into darkness (plus a little added black). A little dodging and burning in, some cropping and a touch of vignetting completed the processing.

All processing in SilkyPix Developer Studio Pro 9

Wishing all viewers a grooving SLIDERS SUNDAY!

HSS!
