He's always so interested in the kids bath time. He loves licking the bubbles off of them.

So I wonder what her baths were like... Did she really bathe in milk and honey?

"What could be more luxurious than blowing bubbles in a bubble bath on the waterfront?"

Massive thanks to Jo Lin (MM#806443) for helping me realize this idea.

You have no idea how much effort it takes to get a bathtub full of water & bubbles into a location like this, and then clean it up afterwards. Big thanks to my assistants, you know who you are :)

After a hard days work a girl needs to relax with a bubble bath

Taking a break from the 21 day challenge today because, in all honesty, I hardly left my bed today. It's been a while since I've been this sad, and my bed is just so warm and safe. It's funny how grief can sneak up on you like that. Got up to at least soak in the bath for a bit, but that's about it. I'll get back to more interesting photos tomorrow.

Hey Zach, make a Rock N' Roll face. This is what I got 3 seconds after I said that. Not too sure what the finger gestures are. Anyways, to sum up today in the shortest way possible, I bought a new lawnmower because mine crapped out at the end of last year and I spent the day trying to catch up on yard neglect ever since I started this 365 project. Hope everyone had a good Saturday.

Anybody seen my contacts ?

NEVER EVER trust a 7 year old to run his own bath even if it's for less than a minute. Half a bottle of bubblebath went in!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR VIEWS, COMMENTS, FAVES AND INVITES.

She loves to take baths its almost a struggle to get her out when she does! She loves to lay and float on her back and sing songs-- its too funny to watch. :)

A photo I can't believe I didn't post when I took it earlier this year. A favorite for sure!

This picture has an evolution behind it and I'm not talking about the most obvious association that might appear to your mind. 'Aura having a bubble bath' is the motif I've been chasing for many times and I've been trying to come up with some sort of clever interpretation of it. Just like any other photographer out there, I need to experiment with different ideas and be persistent to eventually come up with something that works. An analogy from the landscape photography: like many landscapes photographers return to some places again and again, I too return into this particular motif and try to find the way to make it work. I think I've done this picture about five times before over one and a half year (not counting the failures). When I started with the first one there was no foam at all and the point of view was different showing cluttered background. Afterwards I've learned, for example, to turn her bathtub into right position so that light will be perfect in our very imperfect bathroom. I've taped a small toy giraffe to my head to make her look straight into the camera (though this trick wears out pretty soon). I've also learned that the beginning the bath is crucial moment for the timing because afterwards her hair gets too wet and the foam begins to dissolve. Having a good composition also means that I can't do it totally in vertical or horizontal mode, instead I need to make it just a little bit inclinated to make it work. As you see, this kind of picture contains a lot more work than it looks at the first sight.

For the obvious reasons this is also a sort of scenario I will gladly reach for the autofocus lens, the Batis 1.8/85 in this case. I know it looks pretty static and could have also been taken with the Loxia-lenses and manual focusing which I've been favoring for my family photography. I mean she doesn't move too much and even if she would, the leeway is still pretty small. But with all the preparations and earlier failures I just didn't want to risk it. Besides that, I've found that it's a bit harder to adjust critical focus with Loxia-lenses and relying just for the LCD-display since the image in viewfinder is considerably larger than what you get with the LCD-display (and for this kind of shot I need to keep camera above her head with my arms reached out). So for the reasons stated above I went with the Batis 1.8/85 for this shot and I think this is as good as it gets for me – at least for now before I get a new idea!

The little bathtub was my late motherr-in-laws. She had it in her bathroom to hold soap and the plug for the sink. I figured it might make a great photo prop at somepoint.

With a little help from a bathtub toy that I had for MFM a number of years ago and some clear glass marbles to sub as "bubbles" I put the Lensbaby Scout and the Twist 60 on the Canon 7D.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my little space here on Flickr.

This was a lot of fun to shoot, and of course i've got loads of photos i like and find it impossible to pick my favourites, so here's a little random batch of four from a bath time baby photo shoot with William

Yes, yes I did take a three hour bubble bath today. It was heavenly. I was reading my nook and occasionally I'd have to turn the tap back on to heat up the water, but it was just what I needed this afternoon. My ear and throat are sore and the hot water was super soothing. Mr. Bubble wasn't nearly as nice as some of my other bubble baths (it actually smells a lot like medicine) but beggars can't be choosers and apparently the stores in my area don't carry Aveeno stress relief bubble bath.

Ready for a new week to begin. Have some unpleasant stuff to deal with tomorrow but after that, I can get back to forging ahead and finding my way. And I will. Eventually.
