This represents the culmination of a day trip that my partner, Walter Ezell and I took to DuPont State Forest near Cedar Mountain, Transylvania County, North Carolina.
I had been to this area ten days prior, and had seen the orchids in tight bud. I figured that they would be in pretty good shape on this day.
We had heard about this location from my flickr buddy, Kelvin Taylor and his cousin Cathy Howell. But on that trip last year, the orchids had already finished blooming. As you can see, they were in perfect bloom on this trip.

I took a walk through the suburbs of Bellagio to get a feel of what life was like behind the glitz of the foreshore. I stumbled across what looked like a school sports carnival and a festival of some kind. The medieval streets are always at human scale - hand built, meandering and enchanting to walk around.
Crowds enjoyed a picture perfect weekend on the Square and browsed more than 50 artists who displayed and sold paintings, photography, pottery, graphics, sculptures and jewelry at the 39th annual May-retta Daze arts and crafts festival May 2-3, 2015.
