Even in seasonably warm weather the drive to add pounds before the cold weather arrives is evident in this doe as she browses the prairie.

oh, you know I had to take a polaroid of this.

Giraffes travel in herds of 4 to 30 individuals. Females are called cows and males are called bulls. Cows and calves stay together, but all the other animals freely move between herds. When young bulls are 3 to 4 years of age, they leave the herd they were born into. Young bulls challenge each other in controlled fights. This behavior is called "necking."

Giraffes are browsers feeding day and night on tree leaves, flowers and sometimes grass. They tend to avoid feeding during the hottest hours of the day. They reach high into trees, removing vegetation with their 18 inch-long (46 cm-long) tongue and lips.

Although adults can defend themselves from predators with kicks from their large hooves, young giraffes fall prey to lions and sometimes hyenas. All giraffes are more vulnerable to attacks when they are in the crouching position they adopt when they are drinking water.

So there was this cute girl browsing through stuff at the map store that we stopped at as we walked through North Beach during the Mixr. She had a cute hat (but still not as cute as yours emma ;) ) and I had to take her picture. I wanted it to be a candid because people are so much more comfortable when they are to themselves. However, I still don't have the courage to stick the lens on someone I don't know. So I asked her if I could take a picture, and she obliged. Thanks cute hat girl. :)

I found this pic as I was browsing old photos and thought it was neat. It hasn't been edited.

After a weekend of no sunrises or sets its quite unusual for me and I'm getting withdrawals! I decided to have a browse over the summer archives where I came across this image of the beach huts at Hengistbury Head. Really looking forward to those warm summer evenings just around the corner...

I was browsing the backups and I found the 8 pictures I took 11 years ago to make a panorama of the Grenadier Pond in High Park, Toronto.

I made the panorama at the time and decided to do it again using a 'modern' panorama maker, Microsoft ICE in this case, just to see how this technology has evolved since then, and the result was so much better that I decided to post it here.

Now I'm thinking about redoing some other old panoramas I have here. This thing is kinda addictive...

With the rains being so late this year the giraffe had resorted to browsing on the new growth from cabbage trees, not something I'd ever seen before.

If you zoom in you will also notice a red-billed oxpecker on the giraffe and a Fork Tailed Drongo waiting patiently for the giraffe to move and stir up some insects.

Black-tailed Deer (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus)

The black-tailed deer is one of nine subspecies of the mule deer. It was first recorded by the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804-06.

Black-tailed deer live in the temperate coniferous forests along the Pacific coast. These forests are characterized by cool temperatures and lots of rain, but an overall mild climate. Black-tailed deer do not therefore migrate in response to seasonal changes, unlike some of the other mule deer subspecies. Instead, black-tailed deer often spend their entire life in the same general area.

I approached Jacqueline as she finished browsing one of the vendor's tables on Ocean Front Walk and complimented her on her outfit. When I told her about the project, she hesitated at first, but after thinking for a moment smiled and agreed.

I was browsing way back in my stream and came across this shot which I did way back when I was still shooting the D7000. It was looking pretty rough so I decided to have a quick go at it and quickly got a much better result. I figured why let it go to waste so here it is in all its reprocessed glory. Enjoy and have a great weekend everyone.

About this album: I adore surfing old photos. Each of them tells a good story, a great experience. That's why I like photography. It records the outstanding memories and makes them unforgettable. I can recommend photography, this thankful passion to everybody.
