During Duxford's Battle of Britain Airshow, a two minute silence was observed in honour of our late Queen Elizabeth II

Breaking that silence was down to the wonderful 'NHS' Supermarine Spitfire PR Mk.XI, flown superbly by John Romain

A fitting and moving tribute

I Broke Again Today

I broke again today,

A million little pieces

Not so’s you would notice

My heart has died a thousand times

I broke again today

The pain it never ceases

There’s nothing in this world

Could ever change this paradigm

I tried to call again last night

To hear your voice on the other side

Maybe you still think of me

Of who we used to be

Before we said that last goodbye

Sitting alone here in the dark

My soul covered with love’s scars

Reminders of the joy, the pain

The costly price we paid

You played me like an old guitar

I broke again today

A million ice cold pieces

There’ll be no goin’ back

No hope, no future in my tears

I broke again today

My hand all eights and aces

Outside a storm still rages

Now I’m forced to face my fears

Sorry to post such a downer on Valentines Day .... but this is where this idea led.

What better way to mend the broken neck of a concrete garden goose than with Duck Tape? So now we have a Ring-necked Goose watching over the garden!

The broken pier at Aberdour. This was actually supposed to be a quick scouting trip on the way past for a future sunrise but the conditions were so calm it would have been silly not to! 0.3 soft Grad.

Thanks for all your comments and faves, much appreciated as

always.

I've got a 40-foot shadow thanks to the low sun just rising over Broken Bow, NE. The DPU on another BNSF hopper train is rumbling through the quiet crossings in town, hustling the empty hoppers back to Alliance and eventually the Powder River Basin.

Broken Land

The Adventures

These rivers run too deep

With schemes of men for days that lay ahead

They sell their souls so cheap

They breed mistrust and fill my heart with dread

When did the boy become a man

And lose his life to learn

So much confusion to this plan

These times are not changing

Show me the love to keep us together

Open up your hearts don't turn me away

Comfort me through this stormy weather

From where I stand,

I see a broken land

This boy has learned to fail

In times like these to cry seems so absurd

His own life's crisis pales

In the shadow of this truly dying world

Final image from our chasing canola day.

Hope you like ‘Broken Land’

Cheers, Mike

Even a broken windmill can be photogenic in the right light. I drive past this thing all the time and this was the first time I ever felt inspired to shoot it.

Broken crayons still color.

Teapot mosaic using pieces of broken china I found on the Thames foreshore in London. Some of the pieces may be export china from the Far East from teacups or teapots, dating from the 17th to the 19th centuries - there are certainly some pieces of willow pattern in the mix

The windows were broken, probably when thieves stole the wood frames surrounding them.

With the fisheye. This is a composite of two images assembled in photoshop. The exposure for the sky was shot at ISO 3200 with large amounts of noise reduction in post. The foreground image was a 3 minute exposure shot at ISO 800. I painted the arch with a flashlight. this arch was probably the largest feature I've ever tried to light paint, rather difficult to get uniform lighting!
