Macro Monday: Theme - Broken
I have hundreds of broken crayons in my house. A bucket full. It seems that once a crayon is broken no one wants to use it anymore. I'm saving them for an art project where I'll be melting all these strays.
HMM!
Thanks for front page Explore!
This week's Macro Monday's theme is 'broken'.
See you all later - Gaia is at home with a cold and cough and she needs her mummy.
[Explored ... my first Front Page :))) ... thank you!]
Broken glass, broken sash cord, broken building. Each time I visit this place, it is in noticeably worse shape than the prior visit. I'm not even sure if there is much hope for this old place at this point. I had to avoid holes in the floor, and hope that the roof didn't fall in on me. I wouldn't want to go in there in a rain or wind storm. The door was wide open. I shut it when I left. What a shame. It's no small wonder that no one has gone in there and left their mark with graffiti yet. I am happy for that, but sad for this interesting old place.
In the grass I see
a fairy's wing.
Dreaming like a child
I look to see.
a broken toy wing.
Washing it makes it shine
like new I see
So in the sun with ideas
goes the wing.
Out comes the camera
for pictures to see
The shine and shadows
of the toy wing.
A new life,
it had,
for but a moment
I cold see
The beauty that it gave,
this little broken wing.
Mirrored into a butterfly for all the world to see
Inverted, changed, and rearranged that tiny little wing

Spotted this poor Curculio sp with a broken off rostrum.... I guess his chances weren't good being as he wouldn't be able to feed?
Goodness knows how it got broken!

This is probably one of my favorites from the Austria Flickr Meetup, a huuuge thanks to gorgeous Lisa for modeling, I'm so glad I got to meet you <3
I found this dead butterfly at a butterfly farm during my roadtrip through England. I kept it all the time and when we explored this magical forest I suddenly knew it would be perfect for this :)
I hope you guys are having a great weekend! Thank you for everything <3
.. She was broken, i think it was because she loved too much. And she was always blind to the fact that love too is sometimes broken. -r.m drake-
Pick up a tiny granite pebble in my driveway. Place it on the anvil section of my bench vice. Whack it with a hammer. It's broken. Shattered really.
View from the end of the Broken HIll trail at Torrey Pines State Park near San Diego.
This is about a two mile hike up from the parking lot at the Park entrance. Only a few people stopped by while I was there on Christmas Eve. Most either are not aware of it or choose to hike the trails closer to the entrance, which helps to keep Broken Hill relatively unspoiled.
The trees here were my Christmas tree this past year and the sunset a bit later that evening a nice gift. I only had one chance to photograph it and was nice to have some clouds and color in the sky.

The broken windows theory, defined in 1982 by social scientists James Wilson and George Kelling, drawing on earlier research by Stanford University psychologist Philip Zimbardo, argues that no matter how rich or poor a neighborhood, one broken window would soon lead to many more windows being broken: “One unrepaired broken window is a signal that no one cares, and so breaking more windows costs nothing.” Disorder increases levels of fear among citizens, which leads them to withdraw from the community and decrease participation in informal social control.
