My old analogue television broke whilst viewing a load of my images. This was a shame, as it meant no more TV, but also interesting in terms of the fuzzy, skewed images that came out. Here they are.

Working through the pain. Might as well process fotos since I can't sleep. :(

Made a road trip to my folks for Easter weekend... unpacked the little guy and his antenna was broken. He's clearly not too happy about it.

I think my laptop has taken the hump because of the arrival of Mr iPhone.

The damn thing has blown its graphics card. Again! Last time it took 6 months to resolve and I'm not sure I have the stomach for the fight with their technical department.

Here we go again...

And if it's broken I

Will try to fix it

And if it's broken I

I know we'll fix it

Winter storm Athena blew through last night, finishing up what Sandy left behind and leaving 6-12 inches of wet heavy snow. All I could hear last night was cracking trees. When we woke up this morning, we found nearly every tree that lined our street was broken or down. Cones in the street to mark where caution is needed.

And while I'm at it, I'm wondering what on earth is the deal with naming winter storms. To me, a winter storm is bad enough without a name. Named storms connote a storm of hurricane strength, and I think it adds to the general anxiety that a lot of us are feeling right now. This storm was bad, but nowhere near hurricane strength. OK, rant over.

**No phones were intentionally broken for this photo**

What do you do when you break your smartphone? Put it in your driveway, throw some water on it and take a picture of course! Only if your insurance won't cover the damage, that is. ;) I chose this phone as my subject for consumerism (anti-consumerism?) because after it broke I had to find one of my dumb-phones my daughter adopted and use it instead. And I discovered I don't NEED a smartphone. It's been kind of liberating (and 10 dollars cheaper a month without the data-plan.)

I tried to make the shot as contrasting as possible so I shot in black and white. I did crop it and increase the contrast just a touch in photoshop to get the effect I was going for.

We asked the repairguy what he finds in broken escalators and he said with a distant stare:

"Shoes...always shoes. Mostly crocs and flipflops, all shredded."

The XXII Triennale di Milano, Broken Nature: Design Takes on Human Survival, consists of a thematic exhibition and several installations from international participants. It will run from March 1 to September 1, 2019. With the XXII edition, La Triennale di Milano reaffirms its decision to continue the tradition of the International Exhibition, the twenty-first edition of which was held in 2016 after a twenty-year hiatus.

The exhibition that gives the event its name and theme is curated by Paola Antonelli with Ala Tannir, Laura Maeran, and Erica Petrillo. The international participations will be solicited via official governmental channels.

The thematic exhibition Broken Nature will consist of three major commissions as well as numerous loans. An ambitious public program of events––with conferences, panels, workshops, screenings, and performances––for people of all ages will also complement the XXII Triennale.

We've been hurting one another

And now the pain has cut too deep...

So take me from the wreckage

Save me from the blast

Lift me up and take me back

Don't let me keep on walking...

Walking on broken glass.

Don't let me keep on walking.

Today my bottom bracket spindle snapped while I was coming up to speed on Kedzie Blvd. Considering where I was and what happened, I got off pretty lightly with scraps and a bruised ass.

Broken safety glass. Shattered quite beautifully. Not by me, mind you.
