Broken Top is an extinct, glacially eroded stratovolcano in Oregon, part of the extensive Cascade Range. Located south of the Three Sisters peaks, the volcano, residing within the Three Sisters Wilderness, is 20 miles west of Bend, Oregon in Deschutes County. Eruptive activity stopped roughly 100,000 years ago, and currently, erosion by glaciers has reduced the volcano's cone to where its contents are exposed. Bend and Crook Glaciers are the two named glaciers on the peak. Elevation 9,175 feet.

broken hearts, broken promises, broken families, broken societies, broken values.
or is it just a broken paper umbrella?
Deep inside we all feel broken. Can't afford to keep a roof over your head, Can't get ahead in life, or maybe it's something about us we don't like. We are the broken.

One morning this week, my favorite coffee mug accidental flipped thru my hands. It felt like forever when I tried to grab the mug on the way down to the floor. I could not capture the mug, it crashed hard on the floor with a familiar sound. My best coffee friend for several years, was now just broken pieces.

This is a 'corner' of a broken "photo-ceramic" affixed to a headstone. The image of a person's photograph is placed on what is usually porcelian. Afterwards, this porcelian photograph is attached to the front of the individual's headstone. I love it when I come across one in a cemetery. Unfortunately, many have been destroyed either by vandals or the elements, mostly the first.
(I have a set labelled 'Death Photos' if you are wondering what one of these 'photo-ceramics' looks like while still in good shape with a clear image of the person who passed away.)
These 'photo-ceramics' are usually oval in shape, smooth and about the size of a 2 1/2 by 3 inch photograph. The majority of the ones I have found and photographed are from the very early 1900s. These do seem to be making a comeback, especially with the older generations born during the depression. Many times there will be three photos: two in color and taken recently (one of each spouse) and a third placed in the center (black & white or hand-painted color) of the couple's wedding portrait with their wedding date engraved into the stone above it.
Jussi Ruuska was doing heroic progress with his extremely heavy load until poor Halti backpack could not take it anymore. Fortunately our hardcore boy scout leader Mr. Junttila had the knowledge and the tools to fix the backpack.
Broken hands on broken ploughs,
Broken treaties, broken vows,
Broken pipes, broken tools,
People bending broken rules.
Hound dog howling, bull frog croaking,
Everything is broken.

Remains of an old factory in Hjalteyri, great place to photograph but maybe not so great for late-night traveling unless you're not alone.
Well although you might be there alone I really believe that you wouldn't feel so all alone with all the history around you.
The D90 broken on 6th Avenue, December 10, 2011 in front of 666 Pacific Street thanks to some broken and uneven sidewalk.
Taken before getting shipped off for a repair estimate.
We were on a four-wheeler pedal go cart with my sister, hubby, me and two kids. Hubby decided to pedal really fast. It was tandem so my foot got caught in the pedal and I got dragged underneath for a bit. He didn't know where the break was. It was not for long, but long enough for me to realize what was happening.
Rather worn looking notice board on the edge of Greenbank Cemetery displaying the rules and regulations of the site. Curious that typical rules concerning dogs and picking flowers are joined on this board by demands regarding the quality of the stone material that is required for producing the memorials.
