I’ve eaten in Landry’s eponymous restaurants in several cities, but didn’t realize until this visit to Galveston that it operates quite a few other well-known chains as well.

HMM (possibility)...the theme for macromondays for 5/13 is "a spoonful" and one must stay within the parameters of size while still showing at least a portion of the bowl of the spoon and the contents. if i decide to go with this one, i may crop it down just a little, although it is under 3 inches in all directions. the theme's explanation can be found here:

when i spotted this tray of bead pudding, i was immediately transported back to a memory of my dad who had this story/joke that he never really finished telling because it would crack him up every time he tried ~grin~

My sister Marlene sent the recipe to me for this Bread Pudding. I made it totally from scratch. I even made the bread that went into the pudding.
This was the first time I had bread pudding which I had ordered by mistake. If you ask me...I'd say it was like eating a gourmet bowl of soggy bread topped with fruits. It was rather delicious but I don't think I would order it again. Wishing everyone a fabulous weekend.

Fresh out of the oven .... my favourite way to eat bread. This is my Apple & Raisin Bread Pudding. Next I'll mix up a caramel sauce and when it's desert time tonight I'll drizzle it over the Bread Pudding. In the meantime .... I think I'll just have a little taste-test.... Quality control, you know. :)

Decided to make bread pudding for dessert tonight, just because. It's a pretty rich recipe to start with, but I figured I'd angle for "as decadent as possible" and go with a chocolate bread pudding. My wife liked it so much she's now contemplating hiding the leftovers from the kids.
Didn't go nuts setting up this shot, but it does make me want to go prop shopping since I didn't have the pieces I wanted to try and set up the shot I had in my head.
The caramel sauce is one of my go-to recipes, and I've shared it before here on Flickr. The only change I made to this batch was to add a teaspoon of coarse salt (sea salt or something similar; I used Himalayan pink salt since I got some for Christmas.)

Ingredients
5-6 c. of stale bread, cut into 1/2" cubes and dried (I used challah)
10 oz. bittersweet chocolate, chopped
1/2 c. pecans, toasted and chopped, plus a dozen or so whole pecans
butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa powder
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground chipotle pepper
2 c. half-and-half
4 large eggs
Directions
Your bread should be fairly dry so it will absorb the liquid. You can leave it out overnight, already cut, or spread it in a single layer on a baking sheet and cook in a 200°F oven for 30 minutes or so, leaving the door cracked a bit to let the moisture escape (I hold mine open with a wooden spoon.)
Butter the sides and bottom of a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish.
Combine the bread, chocolate, and chopped pecans and put into the casserole.
Whisk the cocoa powder, sugar, and spices into the half-and-half until well-combined, then whisk in the eggs. Pour the liquid over the bread cubes, then press the bread down so it's all in contact with the liquid. Let it sit and absorb the liquid while you preheat your oven to 325°F with a rack in the lower-middle position.
Bake for about 50 minutes until set. I like this served still a little warm, with whipped cream and the bourbon-caramel sauce linked above.
We have a food truck here, My SweetBasil. Their food is absolutely delicious. They cater for all, vegetarians included. Today for a surprise they made Bread Pudding just for us.
Delicious!

"More Like an Experience"
I stumbled across the "Smorgasburg" while strolling through Prospect Park. Plenty of folks were out enjoying the variety of food and each other's company.
I came across Dylana's stand and purchased the Vanilla Bourbon bread pudding & a drink. And HONEY--as the printed review says it was "more like an experience!" I had to head back to the stand to compliment the owner and take a few pictures. I cannot wait to get more.

Butter sauteed apples, plump raisins, and day-old chunks of bread soaking in cinnamon-nutmeg spiced milk. It might look a little soggy now ... but just wait .... When it comes out of the oven it'll be a delicious golden Bread Pudding.
