Well, dinner preparation shot anyway. Cheesey, herby breadcrumbs.

I crushed rye crispbread in a food processor and breaded the turkey schnitzel with it. The broccoli is steamed in vegetable broth.

I followed the breadcrumb trail of frozen beer bottles, but it didn't lead anywhere warm.

Photo from my Canon.

I may have to retry the photographic experiment, as I can't remember if one of these was taken with/without the overhead light in addition to the light from the window. In any case, the ISO etc settings aren't the same; For the iPad, I just held the camera above the food and clicked, so the two don't actually match.

This was created while staying in Portland in the Southeast Neigherhood of Brooklyn. The house we stayed in was warm, fun, and relaxing, with a touch of wine and eddie izzard in the air.

I don't know how wood roasting escargot is different from other ways of preparing them, but these were the chewiest and toughest escargo to eat. Also, oil was used instead of butter, which gave it a lighter and cleaner taste.

Orecchiette with breadcrumbs and cauliflower

A croquette is a small breadcrumbed fried food roll containing, usually as main ingredients, mashed potatoes and/or ground meat (veal, beef, chicken, or turkey), shellfish, fish, cheese, vegetables and mixed with béchamel or brown sauce, and soaked white bread, egg, onion, spices and herbs, wine, milk, beer or any of the combination thereof, sometimes with a filling, e.g. sauteed onions, mushrooms, or boiled eggs The croquette is usually shaped into a cylinder, disk, or oval shape, and then deep-fried. The croquette (from the French croquer, "to crunch") gained worldwide popularity, both as a delicacy and as a fast food.

Research in 2008 showed that 350 million kroketten are eaten in the Netherlands every year. An estimated 75% of all Dutch people eat them, resulting in 29 kroketten per person per year on average.

Very cold today, so cauliflower cheese piping hot with a breadcrumb top seemed the ideal comfort food.

Breadcrumb Trail screening Q&A, Cornerhouse, Manchester, Friday March 28th 2014

My lunch at Morgans Seafoods, Scarborough, Queensland.

It was very enjoyable in the late autumn midday sunshine.

Slightly bedraggled but looking fat, possibly because he had just gorged on seedy breadcrumbs put out for the birds.......

They ordered two cappuccinos and sat there, discussing breadcrumbs.

Yet another traditional-style sweet dish: Quark "noodles" sprinkled with roasted breadcrumbs and sugar and served with homemade plum compote.

Quark is a type of firm cream cheese that can be eaten raw or cooked and is used in both sweet and savoury dishes. To make dumplings (noodle-shaped or the round kind), the quark is mixed with flour, egg, some salt and a little bit of butter, then simmered in salted water for about ten minutes. Eat while still hot or warm.

Quark noodles are usually eaten with fruit compote because they're rather bland on their own. And since I still had a whole lot of plums waiting to be used up, I decided to cook up some traditional-style plum compote. It's fairly easy to make: the plums are halved, de-stoned and dumped into a pot with only a small amount of water and some sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon and cloves. Bring to a boil, then reduce the temperature to low-medium, put a lid on the pot and let simmer until the plums are so soft that they start falling apart, and the remaining liquid has turned red and slightly syrupy. Serve cold - straight out of the fridge is fine.
