I captured this image of a narly looking wildflower at Brazos Bend State Park. I'm not sure what this flower is called, but it sure looked fascinating to me. Maybe it is having a bad hair day? I suspect it is not from this world!

First sighting of the day. He was right next to the trail and was "enjoying" the attention of several little kids. About 8 feet long.
At first glance it appears you are seeing a bird standing with his legs reflecting in the water, but look closer and you will see this bird has some really long legs for its body size.
On Monday, Carl and I ate lunch in Lake Jackson at All-Star Pizza. We had the delicious buffet of pizza, calzones, and cookies. Afterwards we drove to Brazos Bend State Park where we saw some wildlife exhibits and saw some wildlife: butterflies, a deer, a snake, baby alligators, some birds, and a baby coyote?
Then we drove to the museum district of Houston. At the Houston Museum of Natural Science, we toured two exhibits: Terra Cotta Warriors and the Spirits & Headhunters: Vanishing Worlds of the Amazon. We also saw the skeletons of some dinosaurs and exhibits of animals from Africa.
We had planned to go to the Houston Zoo since it was open free to the public on Columbus Day, but they wouldn't let us inside since it was less than an hour before closing time. Instead we found Hermann Park with a pond, some ducks, some coy, a turtle, and some statues. It was a nice find at the end of the day.
We drove back to Lake Jackson and ate a most delicious steak at Salt Grass Steak House before returning to Carl's house for me to pack up and leave early the next morning.
Ooops....seems I spooked a few babies when I got to the edge of the water. When they ran, mom came to tell me I should not bother her babies. I did as instructed......
