One more visit to the Vermillion Flycatcher, and improved my effort. These guys are so tough to get in spectrum, their red color. Fantastic little birds. Pyrocephalus rubinus
I took this photo during the peak of the Geminids meteor shower on December 13th 2015, I stoped by the George Observatory inside Brazos Bend State Park and setup my cameras hoping to catch some meteors.
I captured a few, but this is by far the coolest. This was a fireball that lit up the sky causing the spectators at the observatory to gasp and exclaim excited about being able to see it.
Alligator soaks up sun on a chilly afternoon at Brazos Bend State Park in SE Texas. Cool, sunny days are great times to find these cold blooded creatures basking on the banks. 2/2020.

With little rain, the already shallow lakes in the park have been drying out. Herons and egrets gather to feed on remaining aquatic creatures.
This is a very tight crop of the above post.
This rabbit was so captivated by the fresh green leaves that he paid little attention to me seated at his side. Brazos Bend State Park in SE Texas. 2/2017
Watched this animal for well over an hour as it hunted a small swampy area, looking for frogs most likely, one of their favorite meals. I think it started to reconsider some of the small birds that were nearby. Buteo lineatus

These birds eat mostly carion, but do also catch live prey. I don't know the source of the pictured meal. It was pretty well worked over by the time I arrived. There was a second bird perched in the tree. Hopefully we will see these two again. It's certainly a bird that catches the eye.

Autumn/Fall is just one of my most favorite season, the colors just amazing . I'll post some more autumn shot for the next several weeks until end of autumn season. I hope I didn't bore anyone with my autumn shot :)

Brazos Bend has several big, dead trees. In life and death, these trees served generations of ducks, ibis, herons, anhingas, woodpeckers, and many other species. This morning two whistling ducks made this tree their lookout tower. I was thinking B&W as I shot this. Hope it works. Brazos Bend State Park in SE Texas - 9/2022
The moon was bright when I arrived at the Park, but heavy clouds soon moved in. By sunrise, the clouds had pretty much overtaken the sky. I never regret getting out early.

The Park Rangers have named this deer Frank. He seemed pretty complacent relaxing in an open field two hours before sunset. Hopefully Frank knows where the park boundaries are, hunting season isn't far away. Good luck, Frank.
