I covered the bottom with vegetable tanned leather stretched tight then laced the upper part with leather lace in a basket weave pattern. Then I turned a fancy lid for the bottle on my lathe from a piece of walnut.

These Cornrow tree braids were done by Kristen Lock. She used 2 packs of cuticle human hair that was purchased online.
i have always admired the braid pictures girls do on flickr.. especially from amanda lynn, if you have a minute check out the set i linked. it's all braids! and she is amazing with SOOC pictures.
but this is just something simple i wanted to try, and i'm really pleased with it. :))
by the way, this is SOOC except for the black and white. :)
buy it. :)

Matume demonstrates making a braided rope; he started a few moments before with a switch cut from something he called a silver resin bush (haven't been able to find a Latin name for that), from which he peeled strips of bark.

As you may have noticed from previous photos, little Gingerbread Horse has pretty wild hair. My wife is trying to train it to lay down to one side, so each time we visit her she gets braids put in her mane.
ponytail split into 3 braids, alternately wrapped each braid halfway around until done. I meant to tuck in the ends better, but I failed without a good mirror.
Kristen Lock used 3 packs of Toyokalon synthetic hair to achieve these cornrow tree braids. What is great about using synthetic hair is that it is so inexpensive! You can pay a great deal of money on human hair which comes out looking BEAUTIFUL, or you can save some money and use synthetic hair. The synthetic hair will tangle quicker then the human hair but so depending on what is more important to you you will either do synthetic hair or human hair.

Some of kumihimo braids I have braided. Most of them are structures I designed and do not come from books, but this doesn´t mean that they cannot be in some books I do not have. Sometimes I design a structure and later on I find it in a book I just bought or I already have :-).
See more on my blog I have on blogger, that is called kumihimo, of course :-).
I braided my dreads into two braids. They are getting longer. Some are past my shoulders some are down my back a little. I know that the less I fuss with them the healthier they are. I don't think I will be doing this often because my head does not like the tension even though it is not braided tight. I have gone over a year without dyeing my hair and my locks thank me for it. For me letting my hair lock means total freedom from all things artificial and that includes hair coloring. It is just too damaging to my hair and my locks just want to be free!
