At first glance this is just another photo of one of the ubiquitous Class '48DS' Ruston & Hornsby 4-wheel diesel-mechanical locomotives (Works No. 237923 built in 1946), found on the scrap heap at George Cohen's Cransley scrapyard near Kettering on 23rd June 1973. However, this is the former BR departmental locomotive DS1169, withdrawn by BR in October 1972. Delivered new to the Bristol Aeroplane Company at Weston-super-Mare, it was sold on to BR (Southern Region) in 1948, initially being employed at Folkestone Warren PW depot until 1962, when it was transferred to Yeovil Junction. A rare photo taken during its last days of survival, along with a BR class 04 also for disposal.

A prototype design for a BR mk1 inspired by a few other designs I had found across Flickr.
It seems too tall compared to the real version. a revised body and better made bogies might fix this.

Some while ago I was given a set of slides to look after following a gentleman passing away . These BR blue locos were in there all taken on Agfa slide film. I have no idea of locations and am sharing them believing them to be by Tony Molineux. If anyone knows they are their own photo I will happily remove any.

Aufnahme wahrscheinlich Anfang 90er
Schöne Erinnerungen an die frühe Kindheit und den typischen Bw Geruch nach Schmierstoffen, Öl und Diesel u.v.m. der mir heute noch ab und an in der Nase liegt ^^

92134 was built by BR at Crewe in May 1957 and is the only surviving single chimney member of the class.
It was withdrawn from service with BR whilst allocated to 8H, Birkenhead, in December 1966 and sold to Woodham Brothers at Barry, South Wales, for scrap. It arrived at the scrapyard in June 1967 and remained there until December 1980, when it was purchased for preservation.
However, when purchased the locomotive did not have a tender. The original BR1C tender was acquired for use with 71000 "Duke of Gloucester" and then heavily modified. The current tender is on loan and a decision is yet to be made with regard to the construction of a new tender.

BR - Bar
Personalized plates
I didn't see as many personalized plates during my vacation as I would have guessed. But they are not a rarity either. STBAR stands for Stari Bar - the old bar; the vehicle stood directly on the parking lot in front of the historical complex.
Seen in Bar/Stari Bar.
My piece on the BR Crew wall. The whole wall will eventually be posted.... maybe.
I was sweatin' the burners on either side of me the whole time.
