The DB Class 103, a very iconic German electric train, in use from the 70ies to mid 90ies.
Actually I started with my first concept of the BR 103 back in 2014. Much of trial and error went into designing the cockpit window. I have seen a lot of people use part No. 62360. But somehow that never looked right. It didn’t quite catch the character of the train and the angle of the windshield was way off.
So I gave it a rest for a couple of years. Then I moved and when decorating my new Lego workplace, I rediscovered this WIP.
In the summer of 2019 I gave it another shot. This time I found a sculpting solution I was satisfied with.
I presented this train with wagons to the public in Skearbaek in 2019. So maybe some of you got the chance to see it in person.
Just now I thought it was time to take some pictures – also because I want to take part in this year’s Brick Train Awards.
In the bottom half of the nose you might discover part No. 27507 in light gray – should be tan though. I am sure it’s just a matter of time when get it in tan.
This engine runs with two PF train motors, powered by a SBrick and Lego battery pack. Due to part No. 2605c01 attached to the bogies this train is able to navigate through R40 curved tracks.
Instructions are available but still need to be finalized.

A northbound (up) ballast train makes its way along the slow line at Horley, led by electro-diesel 73 132.
This view of Doncaster station from St James Bridge looking north will be very familiar to train spotters of the 1960s. WD 2-8-0 90031 and BR standard 9F 2-10-0 92175 head for the shed, whilst behind them A1 pacific stands as the southbound pilot in case of loco failures on the main line. To the left of the locos was a BTH Type 1 D82xx and in the far left a brand new electric loco E30xx later to become a Class 85 85xxx

37216 pulls out onto the mainline on 6E78 empty Carless tanks from Longport to Harwich
Finally finished the loco, can now get ready to do the decals!
Planning on adding some lining on the windows, as well as a few extra details to tidy up the front.
RailAdventure 139-588 with a new Desiro ML for OBB Cityjet services, passing yesterday (07/03/2015) at München Pasing.
Blue signs still in situ despite some 'modern' smaller ones - at Crianlarich Station on 19/7/83. The 'Upper' distinction no longer necessary.
The photographer and date the photo was taken are unknown. A digitally restored image from an original negative in my collection.

LNER Bedlington South Signal Box (NER Type N1 - McK & H 30 lever frame) view on 19th Dec 2024. This box will be retained and manned to control the busy adjacent level crossing and associated barriers. Work is progressing to complete the new Northumberland Line Bedlington Station on the other side of the LC. The Northumberland Line opened on 15th December 2024.
