The "gnomon" is the part of the sundial which casts the shadow. It derives from the ancient Greek word for "indicator", "one who discerns" and "that which reveals".
The "style" is the more specific part of the gnomon which casts a shadow at a particular time of day.
This gnomon is unusual in that it is not only formed from a living plant but it consists of two different forms of yew grafted onto each other; golden yew on top and dark green Irish yew beneath.
Unfortunately on the day I took these shots the sky was so cloudy it was impossible to see the sundial in full working order.

Dopo aver esplorato il mondo del lavoro, una nuova “chronique” di vita quotidiana sul valore di mercato.
Vadi e Lofo - dopo e grazie al notevole successo di Servizio di pulizia - hanno acquisito un nuovo e più consistente valore di mercato.
Qualcuno ha deciso di investire su di loro, ma questi investimenti sul loro futuro sono ragionevoli? Su cosa si basano? Qual è il valore di ciascuno di noi e come è possibile accrescerlo (possibilmente senza compiere lavori)? Che succederà domani? Il futuro è già scritto?
Vadi e Lofo, con questo capitale iniziale in tasca, partono alla ricerca di un avvenire migliore e si rivolgono a diversi futurologi per non sbagliare direzione: una veggente, un broker, “oggetti parlanti”, …
E se succede che le scelte sensate non sono il mezzo giusto per costruirsi un buon futuro? E se succede che in questa borsa umana il valore di ciascuno si deprezza invece di crescere? E se succede che l’indicazione sul pannello nero delle quotazioni rimane vuota e non si sente altro che il clic del meccanismo?

Quite often little children of street vendors, who are not yet in school, will stay
with their parents during the day. They often are very creative in finding new ways
to stay entertained. These three decided to see if they could become a box set. :)
Each year, Gallery Route One in Point Reyes invites over a hundred artists to create unique works of art using a wooden box.
Here are the inspiring artworks they created this year: they range in style from whimsical to poignant and thought-provoking. These photos were taken on closing day, when the gallery organized a live auction for each of this year’s 150 boxes. The proceeds support the gallery’s exhibits and community programs.
Two of the boxes were created by members of our art community: Howard Rheingold (a.k.a. Dr. Rindbrain) contributed an illuminated box called ‘Magical’, while Geo Monley and Meryl Rubenstein made ‘Les Puzzles.’
Members of ‘Pataphysical Studios came to cheer for their peers -- Dr. Really was the highest bidder for Dr. Rindbrain’s piece, which was thus kept in the family. After the show, we all went to Stellina to celebrate over a nice dinner.

Made for a friend to display a beautiful Pineapple Opal cluster found by her at White Cliffs, NSW, Australia - a very remote opal field. Interesting place to Google Earth, by the way. See if you can pick the entrances to the underground houses and Motel.
I used the ancient Box camera again. Not only are its viewfinders quite dirty and wonky (making it hard to see what you are shooting), it also scratches the film (even HP5!) really badly and actually tore this one when forwarding.
At least all that makes for a certain amount of ‘flair’

Two stunning signal boxes in stunning locations! Very pleased with these, and more than glad that I took the trip out to photograph them in their twilight days, weeks, months, or (hopefully!) years until they are abolished and control is transferred to a state-of-the-art signalling centre.
Alrewas and Lichfield Trent Valley Junction signal boxes work absolute block with one another on the line between Lichfield Trent Valley and Alrewas level crossing.
Lichfield Trent Valley Junction fringes to Aston SCC, and Alrewas slots to Derby PSB, I believe.
Finally Aniera has arrived on August 30th, it was a pretty hectic day so I didn't know she arrived until 7 in the afternoon.
New design, the appearance is simple and it is more convenient for carrying.

Great mini speaker for PC/notebook.
High quality sound and bass ouput.
This is my "studio" and my first attempts at using my light box. Shots turned out pretty good, IMHO, but I need to add more light either from the front or back. Don't know yet, I need to experiment.
