Keep those bows and boxes

Keep those three wise men

No need for a North star

To show me where I will end

'Cause all I ever wanted

Isn't on a shelf and

Santa, can't you hear me?

Came across this charming utility box and amazing dune vegetation at Hoek van Holland, Netherlands.

I cannot see any other reason for building so tight but money.

- a flatlay for Saturday Self-Challenge: knolling

In 1987, in the quiet after-hours at Frank Gehry’s furniture shop, as a janitor named Andrew Kromelow cleared up, he would gather stray tools and experiment with arranging them in a grid-like pattern.

He called the practice “knolling,” after the hard angles of Knoll furniture, a popular brand that Gehry was designing for at the time.

Today, knolling more often refers to the art of spacing out objects on a flat surface at tidy angles to one another and photographing the arrangement from above.

I was looking for birds in the side yard, but instead found the annual high number of box elder bugs. I put the Raynox close-up lens on, and shot a few. This one was on the edge of a cherry leaf.

A solitary red box stands quietly against an immense landscape.

Drawn less by function than by presence, it becomes a small human mark within overwhelming space — a pause between movement and silence.

Leather box for jewellery. It's my souvenir from the Podhale region (Southern Poland). I bought it many years ago. In this region you can find many leather products made for tourists :)

Valley of Fire State Park included natural stone arches and box canyons.

The vineyard next door is going through the autumnal change and the vines are gradually going dormant. Also dormant is the honesty box that resides at the entrance to the vineyard. During the summer and early fall, the box is usually overflowing with fruits and vegetables harvested from our individual gardens and orchards. The concept is to give a little, and to take a little. It's a nice form of neighborly kindness. I truly feel that in these times of global and national upheaval, local esprit de corps is critical to keeping our world sane.

On an lightly overcast summer morning, Brownie, my tortoise-shell cat, keeps watch over the backyard of the house next door, from one of the cats' favorite perches—the old wooden rabbit hutch outside my bedroom window. The family next door has several small dogs, and the cats like to watch their high-energy morning play from the plywood top of the old hutch, safely situated behind the fence.

An invasive species originally from south east Asia and first recorded in the UK in 2007, presumably arriving on imported buxus plants. It is widespread in parts of Europe where it is considered a pest due to the damage its larvae can do to ornamental box hedges and topiary. It has now been recorded across much of Britain but is most numerous in the south.

I was lacking a bit of inspiration with too many boxes to choose from when I thought of this. She was such a good girl! And was 'rewarded' :) 🐾💕

The still very active ex-GWR signal box at Liskeard in Cornwall, adds to its list of duties by taking on the role of backdrop for some of the glorious pink roses that abound the station just now.
