One of the first things I designed in Tinkercad. The two pieces have a delightfully snug fit. The grey example got bumped while printing and misaligned.

Each year, Gallery Route One in Point Reyes invites over a hundred artists to create unique works of art using a wooden box.

Here are the inspiring artworks they created this year: they range in style from whimsical to poignant and thought-provoking. These photos were taken on closing day, when the gallery organized a live auction for each of this year’s 150 boxes. The proceeds support the gallery’s exhibits and community programs.

Two of the boxes were created by members of our art community: Howard Rheingold (a.k.a. Dr. Rindbrain) contributed an illuminated box called ‘Magical’, while Geo Monley and Meryl Rubenstein made ‘Les Puzzles.’

Members of ‘Pataphysical Studios came to cheer for their peers -- Dr. Really was the highest bidder for Dr. Rindbrain’s piece, which was thus kept in the family. After the show, we all went to Stellina to celebrate over a nice dinner.

Delia and the other cats have adjusted to *most* of the noises and smells of city(ish) living, but the neighbor's beagle is still an occasion for alert caution. In these pictures Delia is crouched behind a box listening to the beagle-monster walking by outside.

Box Tengor 52/2 with Ultrafine Xtreme 400 film. You can really tell that I like old barns. :) Sadly, these box cameras sometimes have a habit of rolling the film on askew and the backing paper will fail to cover the edge/flange of the roll, creating light leaks along the edge.

However, I do like the clouds and I think that a little burning could really bring those clouds out and make this picture shine!

Box Rocks 2014

Finished coffin jewelry box: I painted the inside red and lined with red velveteen leftover from the pillowcases I made. I painted the outside with a variety of mixtures of black, brown, and violet and sanded it a few times to give it a weathered look. Then I varnished with a Satin Gloss.
