Another Boro'line bus that seemed drawn back to the south east was this one. One of the rare Wright TT-bodied Bedfords, this one was of the shorter YMQ variety. It was new as ABH760X, to a firm which I believe was called Shaw & Kilburn. Not sure who they were, but I'm assuming it must have been a dealer demonstrator. Anyway, it subsequently joined Boro'line as no. 260, and was in due course reregistered 851PKJ.

By late-1992 it had rejoined two of its fellows with Rambler, taking the number 12. Along the way it had changed identity again to MUY41X, during (I believe) a short stay with flickrite Wactonbus' business in Herefordshire.

In due course a fourth ex-Boro'line Bedford / Wright would also join the fleet, YMT C203GKR. That had strayed far from home with Glossopdale in Greater Manchester but also returned to the south east as Rambler 07.

As a former urban designer, I've been acutely aware of how big an impact the foreclosure crisis has had on our cities and towns throughout the United States. My Foreclosure Boro series offers a glimpse via neighborhood maps into heavily foreclosed neighborhoods in major cities across the US. Japanese Boro is a traditional utilitarian patchwork ‘rag’. The pieces have been mended and patched numerous while providing warmth and security as clothing and covers to the Japanese people during hardship. The Foreclosure Boro show foreclosed lots that are threadbare, mended and salvaged. They provide a record of our current times when our very foundations of comfort and security are vulnerable.

Illustrating well how modern bus company colour schemes could learn a lesson from the past is XG9304, a Leyland Titan PD1 with Northern Counties body which was new in 1946 as Middlesborough Corporation no.52, seen here sitting in the early evening sun at the SVBM, Lathalmond open weekend.
