My chosen thread for darning with. It's vintage, stained on the outside of the ball and a little fragile with age, but still enough strength to be useful.

Located in the centre of the village and at least 150 years old, this is one of the most visible houses of the Boros family in Tordátfalva. Here was born the future Unitarian bishop Boros György (1855-1941); just a week after we visited the village, a memorial plaque was unveiled here.

Arca Dewa Ganesa di Dusun Boro, Desa Tuliskriyo, Kecamatan Sanankulon Kabupaten Blitar, diyakini sebenarnya berkedudukan di Desa Jimbe, Kecamatan Kademangan, Kabupaten Blitar yang berjarak sekitar 11 km. Ini ditunjukkan oleh adanya bekas lubang persegi empat, di tengah pola melingkar yang diyakini sebagai tempat dudukan (pedestal) arca Ganesya di lokasi pertemuan dua sungai Sungai Jimbe dan Sungai Brantas.
Arkeolog Jurusan Sejarah Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) Dwi Cahyono yang menyertai Kompas mengunjungi kedua lokasi, hari Sabtu dan Minggu (12-13/3/2011) menunjukkan, kelaziman arca Ganesya yang difungsikan secara simbolik oleh penduduk Singosari pada sekitar abad ke-12 sebagai penolak bala pada lokasi pertemuan dua sungai atau disebut tempuran.
Di Jawa Timur terdapat dua arca Dewa Ganesya yang istimewa karena berukuran raksasa, setinggi lebih dari dua meter, sehingga menjadikannya populer. Ganesya pun dijadikan lambang dua pemerintahan, Blitar dan Kediri (Jawa Timur). Pada tempat lain di lingkungan candi-candi, arca Dewa Ganesya yang dalam arkeologi dipahami sebagai anak Dewa Syiwa, biasanya berukuran kurang dari satu meter.
Selama ini dipahami Arca Dewa Ganesya di Boro itu pernah dicuri, peristiwanya terjadi di masa pemerintahan kolonial Belanda. Arcanya berhasil ditemukan, namun sudah berpindah jauh dari lokasi semula. Perihal lokasi awal inilah yang selama ini menjadi teka-teki ilmu arkeologi.
Studi-studi selama ini meyakini, keberadaan Arca Dewa Ganesya yang berdiri sendiri, atau di luar kompleks candi, difungsikan sebagai bagian dari pranata simbolik menolak atau mencegah marabahaya yang datang dari determinasi (kekuasaan) alam. Pertemuan dua sungai, merupakan lokasi yang rawan karena pada masanya berpotensi terjadi banjir.
Arca di Boro, menurut Dwi, lebih unik dan istimewa, karena pahatannya masih sangat utuh. Termasuk relief motif batik pada kain sarung yang dikenakan arca Dewa Ganesya.
