One nice thing about being in McDonald's when these guys stop for lunch is that the line gets a lot shorter almost instantly!

Former Borders bookstore - Grande Boulevard - Medina, Ohio
In 1938 Czechoslovakia mobilized against the German threats of war, but hat to give in to the Munich Agreement and withdraw from the border fortifications, even if the army was fully capable to stand against the Wehrmacht. After this not only Germany, but also Poland and Hungary ripped pieces of land from the country, and there were also extensive fights with insurgents, which cost lives of many Czechoslovak soldiers and gendarmes. Today it´s a tradition to reenact how the situation could be, when we would have defended ourselfs. It´s a fact that Hitler was affraid of the Czechoslovak military, which at that time had better tanks, more heavy guns, and a very effective fortification system. Of course we win in the reenactments :-)
Borders Books' flagship Chicago location at 830 N. Michigan Ave. closed in January 2011, leaving the Magnificent Mile without a bookstore.
ARRIVA Buses Wales DAF DB250 / Alexander 4098 - S278 JUA crosses the county border from Flintshire into Denbighshire as it makes the turn for Presthaven Sands Holiday Park whilst operating route 1 to Rhyl Bus Station. This smartly refurbished bus with a good turn of speed is my favourite one of Rhyl's DLA's.

The great wall or gate or fence, that is opened when the BNSF and FXE interchange traffic in El Paso.
Original Bow Girder bridge at Ferniehirst, Scottish Borders, before the re-opening of the Borders Railway and subsequent restoration of this leftover from when the railway was first built. Originally carrying two tracks now just one, this structure was found to be sound and just required sand blasting and repainting, it how carries DMUs and large steam and diesel locomotives on the occasional charter trains, just like in the old days.

The actual north-south border post at Panmunjon, Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The three blue buildings actually straddle the border while the white building behind houses US spies.
This was taken at Wimpole Hall, just south of cambridge. If anyone is in the area and has national trust membership, i recommend it - this one border alone could've kept me happy for hours, it's full of amazing architectural plants and also some which were thick with bumble bees and other critters. Luckily i only had my kit lens so we got out before anyone was drawing their pension. Non-NT members can go too, if you don't pass out at the charges - about £30 for a couple including the access to everywhere and car parking...i think they're confusing it with Alton Towers.

Despite the looks of this less than welcoming gate, I've always found the Canadian people to be very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. This was my third trip to Canada and I've always had such great times while I'm there. I'm already looking forward to my next trip to the Great White North! I'm really missing those beaver tails!
The border crossings between America and Canada are actually very quick and efficient to pass through and the guards on both sides are friendly but, at the same time, firm. I prefer walking over the Rainbow Bridge since the lines for cars tend build up.
