Originally built as a power station for the Urban Electric Company, it was later converted for use as an engineering works for Turnbull and Scott. They left the site in 2010 (but still operate from Hawick). After some years on the Buildings at Risk Register, the building was spectacularly converted into a distillery by Gray Macpherson Architects.
The office block that fronts the site is a rather unusual use of Tudor revival style.

Signs and notices randomly assembled from the Borders Railway in 2025, its tenth year of operation.
One of the two Scotrail station signs is a platform location notice and the other, the standard UK railway station “flag” with double arrow logo.
The commemoration for Jeff is located on the station at Fairshaw, while Alastair’s is on a bench, outside of (but with a view of) Tweedbank station.

The border crossing back to the US on the Lewiston Bridge. It took us almost two hours to get through this, mostly spent waiting on slow moving line. Once we get to the gate, the immigration officer only asked several simple questions similar to the Canadian counterpart on our way into Canada the week before. He also asked if we had any fresh produce and alcohol with us, and we said yes and showed our peaches and plums and mentioned our several bottles of wine in the back. Since they're all from Ontario, it wasn't a problem at all..

The foreground is a large island around which the Columbia River roars right next to the Canadian border.

Work underway on the bridge over B710 north of Galashiels - involving the removing of the decayed steel span and a lot of work to the abutments.
This stone was the border between the old Buzen Province and Chikuzen Province.

My lovely friend Jo has two dogs - an old border terrier called Buzzy and a young, very energetic black lab called Lola. Jo asked me if I could give a new lease of life to a linen cushion that had been given to her by her mum. I wish I'd thought to take a 'before' photo - the whole cover was in tatters as Lola had set about it in a fit of jealousy! I managed to salvage the main panel and put it together with some fake fur and burberry check to pick out those lovely brown and tan border terrier colours. The final touch was to smarten up the linen by shaving off all the greying bobbly bits with a disposable razor - it worked perfectly!
Hela...
Hey... that is my bowl... You are daring me....

A view of the northbound A09 train from the road crossing with the Sweetgrass Hills in the background in Montana. If you look closely at the signpost, you will see a BNSF sign - BNSF has trackage rights to cross the International Border to pick up cars, likewise for CP going south.
The train is led by CP 6049, CP 5033, and CP 6066 - photographed in February 2016 at Coutts, Alberta
