Two of the towers bordering on Piazza Nomi in San Gimignano.
The view is from the top of Torre Grossa, the only one of the towers in San Gimignano that is open to the public.
The village of San Gimignano stands atop a hill in the Chianti countryside. The village is made up of a number of towers built during the Medieval period, many of which still stand today.
The towers started to go up around 1150AD and were built higher and higher by competing families who wanted to show the others who was more important.
San Gimignano is often known as the Medieval Manhattan and is a popular spot for tourists.
