Bolder conversion of www.flickr.com/photos/144837857@N06/51719126945/in/photos... , gaining the lens sharness module in DxO by editing focal length with EXIFTool vs. my former attempt to use USM for sharpening.
Thanks to xinapray for the GINGER identification. This was in a garden at our hotel in Arenal, Costa Rica.
"Where every bird is bold to go
And bees abashless play,
The foreigner before he knocks
Must thrust the tears away."

Never would I have imagined anything like this if I sat down to paint an iris. DDG combined two images and produced this bold painting, which I really like.
There's a nice flock of chickens at Joppa Hill Educational Farm, and they're free to wander the property. They're sometimes fed by visitors, and this Buff Orpington suspected I had food.

Interesting enough, that "highlight" thingy is actually a glitch that occurs when I don't use the fit screen option from the tools and I found out very recently that was the issue (though on Win 7 this setting unfortunately makes the console disappear). Usually I can't stand it because it creates a horrible gap between the character and the background effects like DOF or fog, but in this case I actually like it. It sorta makes it look like a digital illustration, so I went for it.
I love this red barn which is still in use. I tried to crop out the wires, but it was just too bland. Even a long horizontal view was not as attractive. Also I wanted the lovely blue glass ball on the lightening rod to show up.

So: what happens when you want to go railfanning, go fishing instead, and it turns into a "birder" shoot with eagles? Then you haven't hung around me then! Within a few hours, a trek to the BNSF Aurora subdivison tracks turned into fishing with friends, and then, as the golden hour before sunset came on, a pair of eagles showed up! If you have ever photographed them, well...you know they're pretty shy. But these two just posed for me and my friends Shawn and Jocelyn like crazy! The end result is, by far and away, the best eagle pictures I have ever taken, and the first time I've ever seen one up close. And of all places---Shabbona Lake State Park! These have a nest on the far southeast side of the park, near the Union Pacific Troy Grove tracks...but they came out to play just before sunset, watching fishermen and women catch their prizes.
This eagle appears to have just gotten past juvenile status, as it looks like the white feathers on his head and tail were just coming in.
Thanks to Shawn Blobaum for the photo assist by getting the boat over to the tree!

I think these anthurium flowers are examples of the boldest flowers there are because of their shape, texture and colours. I got them as a present last week and hope to keep them strong for a while. The green with pink and white one is my favourite.

The "also ran" from last night's collaboration with Tim where a Samyang 12mm fisheye lens was used with one of Tim's custom white balance settings. Thanks again for the use of the camera mate.
